15 years ago today (11:37 am) Discovery embarked on STS-26, carrying the satellite TDRS-C and marking our return to manned spaceflight after the Challenger accident.

Hopefully we'll have a similar launch soon.[/i]

Living in Florida my whole life, I've seen many launches. For STS-107, I had tickets and was only a few miles away. It was great! I may be able to procure a press pass for the next launch (I was planning on it being much sooner) as I work for ABC Broadcasting and I'm the editor-in-chief of my school's magazine (they do give out passes for college and high school media).

I remember watching the STS-26 launch. Although not in person.For me i had to convince my third grade teacher to let us go watch it with the other third grade class who was watching it but i talked her into it and we did.

I was 3 so I never saw it. The only launch I saw was at camp in 2001. We saw a launch just before graduation. I have also seen a landind on tv once before. Unless there is a Canadian on board I don't see much coverage.

Well i assume you get CNN even up there in Canada. If you do CNN carries every launch and landing live you just need to know the time so you know when to turn it on or tape it.

I think it's cool that Eileen Collins is currently slated as the commander of the first mission after Columbia.

Well it is cool but ofcourse the flight crew was assigned long before the accident infact i got the crew photo foor that flight just before the accident.
