Does anybody know much about University of Alabama in Hunstville? I'm looking at colleges and I didn't know if it's a good school for engineering. It would be close to camp- which is good to work there as a counselor - and it's close to Marshall. But does anyone go there or have info? Thanks.
Well i have a friend that goes there and i believe she is studying engineering infact she's also a space camp graduate. i've heard its a good school but to be honest dont know that much abiout it.

Just a quick note. I am a counselor and I go to UAH for aerospace engineering. I like it a lot. Its pretty tough though. The professors all have a lot of practicle experience. If you need anymore info just let me know.

I wouldn't mind going to UAH because I could be a counselor, but I just don't see it either. I'm probably not even going into any type of engineering. I'm thinking film (UCLA?).
Anyway, if you are going to be an engineer or scientist, check out the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation, which was started by the Original Seven Astronauts.

I just got back from new student orientation down at UAH. It was a blast. We stayed in the dorm rooms (very nice, BTW) and did a bunch of stuff. I was down there for three days. I took math and chemistry placement tests (even though i'd already been placed, they made all engineering students take them anyway) and placed into chem 121 and math 117 . I also met with advisors and registered for classes. There were new students from all over the world... 49 US states and 95 countries. I can't wait until fall so i can move in!

okie i just got home from florida last night and while i was there i visited embry riddle..and haha it was awful. seriously. i dont know if anyone else has visited there or considered going there, but it really had a cheap motel feel, i didnt feel that the admissions counselor or anyone in the office was too friendly, our tour guide pointed out every 10 min that it was only 15% female so i would have a 'great time' which my father just loved to hear, and the fact that their aerospace engineering program is # 1 in the nation is constantly shoved in your face. i mean its one thing to be proud of an achievement but they seriously over did that. like they were bragging.
on the other hand, the following day i visited the florida institute of technology which was incredible. it was just the complete opposite experience from embry riddle. they also have a good aerospace engineering program. the whole visit was just better. i got to sit in on a class, meet with professors, and go on an airport tour which included a flight which was so much fun. the facilities at fit were a lot nicer than at embry riddle. and so were the people. it was sort of funny because our guide for the airport tour was a junior at the school, and when he was on his college search he also visitied embry riddle which had been his number one choice and after his visit decided it was definitely not for him. so yep.
but if youre looking at aerospace engineering florida tech is a really good school,, fit.edu,, hopefully thats where i'll be next fall!

Oh my god I am SO glad someone brought this up, because I was wondering the same thing! I am interested in engineering and working for NASA, and thus far my first choice school is CU Boulder, because I have a lot of friends there, and it is, I've heard, the third best for aerospace in the country. I went to four day engineering camp there this year (which wasnt as fun as space camp, but close) and it was awesome. But I want to apply other places, and I've been seriously thinking about Huntsville.

hmmm....one of my friends from my first year at camp is starting at ERAU tihs fall and she seemed really excited, I'm waiting to hear back from her on how she's doin. Another one of my friends from my first year at camp went down last spring and loved the campus. I seem to be getting conflicting reports so I may just have to check it out for myself.LaRsOnAtRiXkIx wrote:okie i just got home from florida last night and while i was there i visited embry riddle..and haha it was awful
