AC missions

Post by Boomerang »

Well its obvious that the war with Iraq has begun to some scale so does anyone think or know if AC currently does or might consider doing missions against Iraq in their sims to go along with whats going on in real life?
I personally think it would add a touch of realism to the program but then for some it might make it a little too real. What does everyone else think about this?

Well i think so too, when i was at AC our mission we flew was as iranian pilots something i doubt they do anymore given the war on terror. But we were flying against american targets.

That sounds like fun. We were just always trying to kill everyone else on our team when I went to AC. It was fun because I almost got top gun once.

Well we had a top gun competition too the day after our mission. Came in second in the team top gun but unfortunately as any pilot knows there are no points for second best. So didnt get to compete in the camp top gun competition.

The way top gun works is pretty simple. Towards the end of the week the first soime session in the morning is the team top gun. Its a single elimination air to air combat one on one against other members of your team. 2 pilot rio teams go at a time fight against eachother the winner either by shooting down the oponent or by scoring the most points which you get by sighting the enemy but not being able to shoot him down goes on to fight the winner of another pair. It keeps getting narrowed down till the final 2 pilot rio pairs fight eachother. The winner of that fight goes on and competes in the camp wide top gun. Basicly the same thing except its the winners from each team competing against eachother to decide the ultimate top gun winner.

That sounds cool! Does everyone get to watch it or are you just told the results? We saw the sim room and it doesn't look real big.

There really isnt much to see unless your in one of the cockpits. Atleast when i went you waited in the briefing room upstairs for your turn and for the results of eac combat session.

The SIMs world has been revised to reflect the current happenings in the middle east. Although we dont want to say -- Oh trainees, your flying in Iraq, the place they will be flying is a fictional nation created with a simular flavor to Iraq.

All three levels of AC (M1, 2 and 3) will be working together to defeat the agressive nation before it can take over its neighbors and spread terrorism. Their battle victories will be placed on the daily changing regional map we have displaying their progress (or lack) over the week.

Sounds great i'm glad to hear that the AC program has adapted with the current world climate. Ofcourse when i was there we had no real war to fight at the time.

When I went there in June 1999 we were fighting against the North or South Khosanese- the enemy leader had a Korean sounding name). In our briefing we were told to write down the radio frequency number down (I was the only trainee in my team to have a notepad- oh my team was ate up). I remember Grunt (he was roleplaying an Army commander)telling us that if we accidentally attacked his tanks he would come and slit our throats (it was a joke).
