New Members' Camp Histories

Post by stargazer0105 »

Ok, I'm only asking because I know that I'm not the only curious one here. This is for the new members: What programs have/will you attend? Where are you from? How did you find out about this sight?

Just a few questions.

Im sorta new so here goes..................

Look at my signature to see where I have gone to camp/what programs, etc. I found out about the site after someone who was on Vincent's last team told me about it in 2001. I read posts and I was under a different name (platypus282) for about 6 months before I decided to be Spacecampaddict28 and actually post. I guess I made up for old times!

I found out from Brent, who told me about posts with stories of his treatment of campers.

Well no one had ever heard the not so dramatic story of how I came to be a Hab1.com-er and yeah. Just thought you might want to know.

We've all heard the dramatic version and the not so dramatic version so how about getting some of the other newer members to share.

I joined a few days ago. I have never been to Space Camp but I am going this summer. I found out about Hab1 on a search engine. I should thank www.google.ca for their search results! 8)

Google is the best. Several other search engines use Google (like Yahoo!), but I like the original the best. It is a plain-and-simple search engine with no crap and it does a great job.

Yeah, Google is my favorite. Did you just do a general search for space camp?

Yeah, sometimes. But I even search "Space Camp Sites" or "U.S. Space Camp". You have to do some experimenting to find results. It's very hard, cuz sometimes they give you lame results. It took me a while to find Hab 1.

Google and XP

Post by Benji »

If you have Windows XP, download Power Toys (they have them for other verisons of Windows, but they aren't as cool). I used Tweak UI to set up Internet Explorer so that I could search Google by typing "g search term." Gimme a holler if you want more info.

Too bad, my computer's a Macintosh OS 8.1. Do they got anything on that, Benji? :)

I doubt it. Power Toys are made by the people who make Windows. When they're done with it, they start making these things which make life simpler for advanced users like themselves. They're really cool, but I don't think they build Mac versions.

They are probably still trying to read the old posts. I remember when i joined the hab there were exactly 5 posts and all of them were in the hab. I waited two months for somebody to reply to my posts lol.

I think the problem might be that they are only reading posts in the Barracks.
