Huntsville in the Fall?

I'm going to ASA Oct. 5-10, and I'm a bit worried about what the weather will be like then. I've always gone in mid Sept. before and it was still hot. I'd like to do the water stuff this year, but I know they don't do it if the water isn't a certain temp. Will it still be hot/warm in Oct.?

Well iwent down there in october in 1998 as a tourist. Its hard to get an acurate picture of what the weather was like that time of the year because it rained most of the time i was there. The one day it didnt it was a comfortably warm temperature during the day. I still wore shorts but it wasn't hot. I would recomend a jacket though from what i was told before i went that trip was it could get a little chilly that time of year my best advice is try to be prepared for both.

Yes, Alabama weather is hard to predict, so be prepared for anything. It can get chilly at night in the fall and warm during the day.

True it can be but the temperature overall was nice when i was there in october just wish it hadn't rained so much those 3 days.

Yeah it rains a lot in huntsville. Well whenever it has rained while I was at camp, it did for like 3 or 4 days straight. Well there was that one time it snowed. That was just cool.

Yeah it does rain alot there. Of the 4 years i went it only didn't rain once and that was in 1996.

I can't remember which years I went and it did and did not rain. That is really really funny. I only remember E and E getting rained out one year and it raining all the next day during some survival training. We sat in the cafeteria and pondered the meaning of life at middle schoolers. It was....interesting.

I remember our MS's had their SCUBA rained out at ASA the first time then had to do it late afternoon near the end of the week because of a thunderstorm during the day and time they were supose to go.

we had the same problem when I was down there in august... it thurderstormed and our scuba got postponned twice and had it been postponned again we wouldn't have been able to go but we did...

That would really suck to not beable to do scuba because of a thunderstorm but i can see why.

It rained on Friday both years that I went. In 2001 the rocket launch was cancelled and in 2002 it rained literally as soon as the last rocket went off. no joke.

I honestly don't remember it raining during my week there last summer. If it did, it wasn't during a very significant time which would explain why I don't remember it.

Well i didnt have to worry about the rocket launch being rained out when i was at asa because for some reason that summer it wasn't part of the ASA program.

I think there were a few other times when it rained but we were inside so we never noticed it.

Well just like in Virginia in summer Alabama gets alot of thunderstorms.

We get rain but not as hard as it was in Alabama. Our rain sometimes lasts for well over 24hrs but its not near as hard as I experienced at camp.

Try being here in VA in hurricane season when one of those storms comes ashre. wind, rain, tornadoes, lightning thunder etc. and can't fprget flooding.

Yes, hurricane season. Don't remind me. But seriously who couldn't resist the temptation to make a lawn dart/explosive type thing out of rocket parts when they throw away the instructions? well of course mine has gotten rained out twice sadly enough.

But when mine did explode at just the right point, all the campers waiting to launch cheered.
