Apollo-based sci-fi horror movies coming soon...

Post by Hotdog »

Two movie studios are both working on Apollo moon landing alien horror films, where secret NASA missions find alien life on the moon. One is called "Apollo 18" and the other is called "Dark Moon". The first one hits in March.

Plot:
“A quintessential Cold War story, Apollo 18 casts light on the covert and undocumented lunar mission that officially ‘never happened’. Bekmambetov, hired by Russia to shoot a documentary about the Russian space station, recently came across footage in its space archives that bolsters the idea that an Apollo 18 mission did, in fact, take place, and reveals startling evidence of extraterrestrial life forms. This actual footage will be part of Apollo 18, a paranormal thriller that will interpolate fact and fiction.”

Interesting plot. I would like to see the trailer before I decide whether it's something I want to watch or not.

I'm fairly certain (based on the trailer) that the new Transformers movie has an element of moon landing as well.

And the shuttle!

Michael Bay & Co. were out at KSC a few months ago, Transformers in tow, to film some scenes.

Cameras are also to be setup to film the (eventual) launch of STS-133 for the movie.

There's a NASA video about the Transformers tie-ins here:

It's a contest about NASA spin-offs. The kids did a pretty good job.

I'm sure this is a result of the highly popular Toy Story - Buzz Lightyear stuff. (Which still rates pretty awesome in my books.)

Here's a new trailer for Apollo 18, way better than last time.

Appears to be worth the price of admission.

We received Apollo 18 for Christmas. It was TERRIFYING!!! Granted, I'm a complete wimp with scary films. It was very suspenseful.

My husband finished the film and really enjoyed it. He says I may be able to get through it if I watch it again because he told me how it ends.

Has anyone else seen this yet? What did you think?

I just scored a cap from the production of the film, and I'm really tempted to wear it to SC the next time I go...
