Orbiter flight sim

Post by Hotdog »

Are you guys familiar with Orbiter, the space flight simulator? It is a totally FREE download with realistic graphics and stunning accuracy. It started out as just a Shuttle sim but add-ons have been created for many other vehicles including Mercury, Gemini, Apollo...even vehicles that were proposed but never flown. It is VERY technical and almost impossible to complete a mission without good knowledge of orbital mechanics and space systems. It is a must for all die-hard space freaks. Check it out:

*bump*

I was just thinking: what if they came out with a multiplayer "Space Camp" edition of the Orbiter Flight Sim! A group of us ex-Campers could fly a mission together over the internet. It would have both the shuttle crew and mission control positions, just like at Camp - and talk over "radios" via our internet connection. The sim itself would randomly throw in the anomalies and mission control and the shuttle crew would have to work together to fix the problems just like at Camp. There could even be easier difficulty levels for the younger Campers. The game could even grade each mission and rank missions/teams based on performance.
