Post by spacebarfie »

Deep Impact is a spacecaft that will collide with the comet Tempel 1 on July 4th. The impact with be so bright that you can see it using binoculars.

That would be so cool if at space camp they let us see it thought the telescope there. :)

Yeah i need to figure that out too. Nothing cool ever happens where you can see it over lower michigan.

Edit: If i figured this correctly it should be impacting at about 2 am EST. I still dont know where though.

Edit again: Ok its going to be near Spica which is the bright star in Virgo so find that star and you should be good to go... providing it hits lol.

I heard it's actually out of the horizon from the US... stupid NASA! I'll watch some NASA TV to see about that, though.

Draw a line from Chicago down to Atlanta, if you're west of it, you have a good chance. East, you have none.

Did anyone see it? My friend said she saw one flash that seemed to be like a jet, but, you know, once I guess... dunno if she saw it or not. I didn't.

But, I did watch NASA TV... SUCCESS! YAY!
