I stopped paying attention the actual numbers a long time ago.

Now i'm just like "you know when disco went up that year? yeah that one."

I dont even care what they chose to number it as just so long as it goes up soon!

Well youll probably have to wait till near the end of the year at best for 115 because they are flying STS-114 then STS-121 then STS-115 121 will be another MPLM flight with much needed equipment and supplies so will 114 ofcourse 114 will also be testing the new inspection and repair techniques.

I was going to try to go down for the Shuttle launch, but with the changeable date making it hard to get time off work, and with plans to go to an astronaut autograph show making it tough to afford both, I decided not to try and go. Even though I'm looking forward to the show, whenever I hear about the Shuttle launch, I'm still bummin' about missing it!

I've never been able to see a Shuttle launch...there have been plenty scheduled while I was in Florida as a kid, but they always got scrubbed.

Gotta see one before they retire the Shuttle!

Change of plans. That idiotic ISS (It's Freedom dang it!!!!) is going to go ahead and screw everything up depending on what news source you want to believe.

Add to all of this the article I just read in the Huntsville Times about Disco not flying unless Atlantis can be brought up to speed so they can launch a rescue within 30 days of launch...

There's an article in today's USA Today that talks about getting Atlantis up-to-speed in order to launch a rescue mission in case something happens to Discovery. If launching Atlantis would cripple the Shuttle program (according to the article), why couldn't they use a Soyuz rocket to bring them back like they've been doing since the loss of the Columbia? Can it not hold a shuttle crew? (Last time I was at space camp, they were just building the inital pieces of the space station, so I'm not as familiar with the details on the russian rockets as you guys....I can only read their names. College russian had to come in handy somewhere

)

I'm not completely sure who they're planning on needing to rescue. I would assume that they mean the crew of Disco and a soyuz only holds 3 people. However, i really havnt read all the articles so i could be wrong. I would like to add however that Dennis Kucinich ought to know that theres already an NSA so we cant have another one.

Yeah, I think the emergency plan is to dock Discovery with the space station and have Atlantis follow a month later and pick them up. If the Soyuz only holds three, that could explain why that idea wouldn't work
