If you have a friend in China, don't tell him (her?) about Hab1.com, chances are, they won't be able to get to it. What do I mean? Click here and scroll down just a little: http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/filtering/ ... ina-H.html

Probably because it has a section for the discussion of science and we've had political discussions on here as well.

Well historicly those are the types of things that communist governments like to sensor to make sure only what they want to get out gets to the people.

It's probably because it is an open forum. We could be discussing the benifits of Communism, but anybody could come and post their views. If they didn't censor it (no matter what we were talking about), someone could post something that they don't like and they probably wouldn't catch it. Also, what if somebody from China came on and started bad-mouthing the government?

Freedom of speech is not something they believe it and that is what we have here.

Wow, it really stinks for them though. But it does make sense because of the communism thing.

Yeah, I guess that is a good thing. But especially because we can voice our opinion may be why they blocked it. That doesn't sit too well with them.

Sometimes, opinions don't sit well with anybody, but that's why they are completely subjective.

I agree that opinions are completely subjective and therefore cannot be judged. I was just saying that according to the Chinese, sitting around talking openly and freely about whatever, isn't necessarily a good thing. I don't think it is right to block the site, but I have no control over the situation.

Probably just did a search for forums message boards and chat rooms and any that allow free exchanges of ideas were probably banned.

That's what I was thinking. I looked at some of the other sites on the list and that seemed to be a trend.
