Security settings for this site

Post by p51 »

My home and work computers are asking me if I really want to get into this forum, something about it's current certificate and settings?
Beats the heck out of me, but it's doing it on every computer I've seen the forum on in the past couple of weeks or so...

The HabForum is now protected with encryption, the same kind that online stores use for taking orders and such.

Doing this requires a certificate from a third party...well, this isn't eactly true. You can make your own certificates, but modern browsers will definitely issue warnings if you do that!

I have a third party certificate, so I'm surprised your browser is giving you a warning with this one. What browser / version(s) are giving the warnings?

Can you take a screenshot and send it to me?

Thanks!

I'm the worst person here to ask a question like that. Beats the heck out of me.
All I know is that on my cell, my home computer and my work computer, all give me warnings about this forum.

So far I've tried Safari, Firefox, and Chrome on OS X, Chrome on Android, and IE on Windows 8, and I haven't seen any sort of warning.

I will say, if you're accessing the site through a bookmark, delete it and make a new one.

Do any of the warnings resemble any of these ones?

This is what I get at work, my home one gives a screen which I have to click OK to proceed to even see the site:

Okay! I have a great answer for this one!

It's your fault. Really. :D

Here's why:

The HabForum is now secure. Every byte sent from my server to you is encrypted. No worries there.

Now, see that picture in your signature. That's hosted on a different server and isn't encrypted. Still no worries, but now it causes a page on the HabForum to be displaying things from both encrypted and unencrypted sources.

This warning is just your browser telling you that the page you're loading contains things from both secure (habforum.hab1.com content) and non-secure (for example, http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v214/ ... 96c25f.jpg) places.

If you root around in the security options of your browsers, you can get it to stop displaying that specific message if you want.

I get this warning now on my work PC, but not on my iPAD safari. I just click No to be able to see avatars.
