One of the best movies ever!!

What Space Camp forum would be complete without a place to talk about one of the best/worst movies of all time, SpaceCamp, as well as all Space Camp references in pop culture.

It's a cheesy movie.

I mean, Space cmap wasn't even in FL at the time but they got to see the shuttle on the pad? huh?

if you've not seen the movie, you're not missing much. It's a stupid movie/love story (they broke pda, too) and nothing more. it is utterly unrealistic and nothing like space camp really is. ithink they should've gotten rid of the adult figure in the movie (what was her name?) she was only in the way of the storyline.

The character's name was Andie (played by Kate Capshaw)...

...and it's not a completely horrible movie, I mean...If you've been to a Space Camp program, you have to see it!

Sure the film has its flaws, buy I've sure seen worse.

...and the fact that it was filmed at my most favorite place makes it all the more watchable...at the same time, if I hadn't gone to Space Camp, I probably wouldn't like it as much...

It may be a cheesy movie but if you ever went or really wanted to go to camp it draws you to it. I've watched it countless time just to bring me back to Alabama for a short time and re-live my camp experience!!

Ok the movie has its problems. Its cheasey and its got more technical problems than i care to countbut it let me knw their was a place called space camp. I saw the movie in 1986 when it first came out in theaters. At the time i was 7 years old and couldn't believe a place like that existed till someone told me it wasnt just a movie. I went for the first time in 1992 sure we didnt go into space for real but i'm glad i saw it. Plus the movie lets you see what space camp looked like in the 1985-1986 time frame. It definately looked diffrent but i still can see some familiar sights in the movie.

Wow! You got to see SpaceCamp in the theaters!? That's amazing! Everyone I know (including myself) can't remember what they were doing while it was in the theaters, but we're all quite certain we were busy that day! :D

Seriously, though, that's really cool that you saw the movie before you went to came, as I had never heard of the movie until I went to camp! This is how it was for every person I've spoken with about it!

It's great to hear that the movie inspired some to go!

Further proof that the move isn't all that bad!

Yes... I must admit to doing this, too. I have an emotional (not a logical) attachment to this movie. BTW, if it came out in '86, then I was two years old at the time... I don't recall seeing it in theaters...

I was only around one when the movie came out so I don't remember it being in theatres. I found the movie in an old section of a video rental store. I eventually found it at HMV and bought it for 5 bucks!
