Movie Memmoribillia

What Space Camp forum would be complete without a place to talk about one of the best/worst movies of all time, SpaceCamp, as well as all Space Camp references in pop culture.

Movie Memmoribillia

Post by Space Nerd »

yeah so i will have to learn to spell that but you get the picture. This past year when i was at camp my parents stayed in the huntsville area and went looking for antiques for a little while. While they were out they found a huge orginal poster from when the movie came out. Its really cool it kinda looks like the front of the box cover but its a little differnt. I also noticed that the shuttle on the poster was painted the wrong colors!!! The movie came out in 1986 and the whole shuttle is white by then they used the rust colored ET right? I would assume so because all footage in the movie is with the oarnge ET. Anyways the poster is erally cool. DO any of you have an cool items from the movie or just cool items from space camp?

While there were several posters made for the movie (depending largely on location), I have the one that looks like the original cover art (and what is currently used on the DVD cover)...

However, I have seen several other poster designs.

As for other movie-related things, I've been meaning to get the soundtrack on LP, just to have...but haven't bothered yet...

You can often find the presskit floating around eBay every now and then, but other than these sorts of (pretty basic) items, I can't really imagine what else could be collected from the movie...

You can find the LP and cass. on eBay, mostly...

I bought a CD from monstersinmotion.com a year or two ago, which proved to be just a copy of the ultra-rare CD (though a very good copy, as copies go).

...if you want on CD, either pay $100+ on eBay or download the mp3's off of the internet, would be my advice...

Thought of another thing one could collect for the movie: The book.

A children's novelization of the movie was made and can be had on eBay quite cheaply (I've spent no more than five to ten bucks for two copies)!

...I just got a copy of the presskit in the mail today, too! Pretty neat! It has lots of glossy photos and even article write-ups for lazy newspapers to publish verbatium!

I just got a copy of The Space Shuttle Operator's Manual...that was used by the Costume Supervisor on SpaceCamp!

Included in the auction were various notes about a few costumes and also receipts for various clothes worn in the movie!

For instance:

Tate Donovan was wearing a pair of K-Swiss shoes in the movie. They cost 42.36 with tax, were size 9 1/2, and were purchased at a store called Second Sole on 9/23/1985!

Larry B. Scott's Air Jordan's were size 8 1/2 and cost $69.10. Also bought at the same place on the same day.

Very cool stuff!

That's what I figured, but I thought you might have secret access to a weekly underground aerospace auction. Who knows?
