I hear they'll overlook that sometimes, if they like the rest of your application.

...The official number is 60 hours of college credit, but there are counselors here with a little less than that (40-50 hours or so), so it may not be such a big deal.

I could have been a youth camper (age-wise) and a counsellor at the same time! Hahaha, wouldn't that have been fun! I graduated secondary school a few months after I turned 17, so after two years of post-secondary I had just turned 19. :-P I applied to be a counsellor then, but they told me they were no hiring for that summer. Oh well, they missed out. :)

I now have a full time job, and taking four months off during our busy season wouldn't go over so well with the owners. I wish I could, believe me!

I just had USF orientation today and it got me thinking about spending some time studying abroad... maybe UAH? Could I go to school locally for a year and be a counselor?

Is that common? Would they hire me for just a year? How about a summer? Maybe I could do summer and come back a few times. That'd be cool.

I'm pretty sure I know a few people who used to be summertime counselors who now work at Space Camp fulltime. Actually, they may have been working full-year back in the day for all I know... but I do know that one of them had taken a year and not done the Space Camp thing... so it's definitely easy for you to come back a few times as a counselor.

I wanna be a counselor

Post by 31337Psyche_AKA_Relena »

Is there a possibility that an international trainee could become a counselor in summertime or something? I'd really like to go back to space camp :!: :!: :!:

I, being an international trainee myself, have been told that as long as you qualify for a US work visa you can become a counsellor at Space Camp. You still, however, have to meet all their other qualifications.
