I really hope it does because I am not sure if I will know what to do with myself if I cannot ever be a space camp counselor.

Being a counselor would be awesome. You should do it if you can.

There is no if..i will do it...I am way too determined. I even have it planned so that I may be able to go to school near camp for college. 15 trips to camp just is not enough.

Now, here's my question. I'm 18, I'll be 19 by next summer, for when I plan to try and b a counciler. I KNOW you're supposed to have 2 years of college under your belt, but that's supposed to be a maturity level thing, according to Rugrat(Who got to be a counciler at 18).
And lets say I'm mature... I mean, really really mature(Which, I swear to God, I am)... Is there a chance of me getting in after one year of college?
Because I really want to start doing this as soon as possible-Otherwise I'm sure I'll get sucked into another live-in nanny job or something and forget about Space Camp...

I would so do that if it is possible! I can't vouch for my maturity level, but I think I am only mature when I have to be.

i remember Rugrat telling us about that last year. I believe that she got to be a counselor because she had an amazing ammount of flight experience and was already a CFI with something on the order of thousands of flight hours. She became an AC counselor because they liked her flight experience, thats how she got around it.

Ah. I'd forgotten about the flight hours.
Well... I suppose waiting an extra year wouldn't be such torture, I mean, I've got my whole friggin' life ahead of me. Still, it never hurt anyone to try.

Flight experience isnt required that i know of to be a Space Camp counselor, and i think it may not even be a necessity for AC.

Occassionally someone with just one year of college can become a counsellor depending on experiance working with kids. Being a Camp veteran also helps.
