Now at Edwards Air Force Base

Post by ApolloXI »

I was talking to my pre-calculus professor yesterday and our conversation got on to Space Camp some how, and she told me that her daughter went to AC as a trainee and later became an AC counselor. Her daughter is now working at Edwards Air Force base. She also told me that being both a trainee and counselor helped get the job at Edwards.

What's she doing at Edwards?
Is she military? Civilian contractor? Government working on a program?
There's not a lot of jobs for non-military, non-governement or contractors on base. I've worked out there as a contractor (Lockheed Martin) on a couple of different programs.
It's a neat place to work, especially if you like military aviation. So much history and like an airshow ever day. But there are drawbacks too. It's pretty much on the edge of nowhere, cost of living is incredibly high (Lancaster and Palmdale the two cities that are just south of the base are in LA county) and it's not the prettiest of places.

I just talked to my former pre-calcu prof. and she told me that her daughter worked on the F-22 raptor project. When she told what her daughter did I almost passed out in her office. I am a big fan of the f-22 and I wish I could have been a aerospace engineer but the math has broken my heart and my dreams.
