We're thinking about attending at Parent/Child camp this year.  Has anyone been to the Laval Camp?  How did you enjoy it?

Thanks!

What's wrong with Quebec? I am coming to Niagra falls this winter before New York City. Well that's not quebec but anyway.

PS I think its funny theres a spacecamp in "Laval" and deLaval was the developer of the deLaval Nozzle which makes rockets go!!

I'd lonve to go to one of the foreign space camps as an international camper i think it would be cool to be on the other side of an international camp.

I mean, going to Quebec would be more efficient for me from where I live, but I think Huntsville would be giving me more of an experience cuz it was the first one. 8)

Quebec is only 9-15. Only Huntsville has Advanced Space Academy.

Camp Spaciale/Space Camp Canada

Post by SpaceCanada »

I have heard great things about Space Camp Canada. It was through Space Camp Canada that I discovered U.S. Space Camp!

I attended the Challenger Centre week-long 'Space Camps' almost every year for as long as I can remember at the local space/science centre. My first year as an 'advanced astronaut' there I was given a brochure for Space Camp Canada. I immediately began to investigate how I could participate in such an adventure.

Unfortunately, at the time, Space Camp Canada was only open for students in primary school. Being 14 and a student of junior secondary school, I could not attend, but they forwarded me information on the bigger and better U.S. Space Camp. (Thus explaining my two trips... best times of my life, of course!)

However, a friend of mine went with a school tour to the Space Camp Canada facilities in Laval, PQ. They were able to try out the simulators anf participate in a 1-day camp. She said it was great. They learned a lot about the shuttle programme, the various payloads, and parts of the ISS. While they do not have as many simulators as Huntsville, nor the close vicinity to MSFC, they do have full access to the Cosmodôme, our largest space centre. They also have some rather high-tech advancements over Huntsville, such as more modern computers in the control room (which looks more like the real mission control), and similar shuttle software.

I have done research, and the Space Camp Canada is similar in price to U.S. Space Camp, although the currencies are cheaper, making Space Camp Canada economical for the Canadian space enthusiasts. They also offer camps in both English and French, which would be nice for the francophones in the crowd.

I would like to visit Space Camp Canada someday in the future and participate in an adult day camp, or possibly bring one of my young cousins for a parent/child week! It would be yet another great adventure.

You can find out more at their website, which ahs been recently updated:
www.spacecampcanada.com

If anyone does get the opportunity to go there, please share your experiences. I'd love to hear all about it!
