ASA or AC?

I'm definetly going back to ASA this year, but do you think I should go to AC for a week and ASA for a week, or two weeks of ASA? I've never been to AC, so I have no clue what it's like.

Well just my opinion but to me AC mach 3 was a verry close second to ASA. I personally think its worth giving it a try i did and loved it. And believe me i had my doubts about going. If you don't mind being outside alot and you like the idea of learning to be a fighter pilot its a great program and alot of fun. I'd recomend doing both programs if you can. If you have any questions about Ac just ask me and ill try to answer them as best i can but keep in mind i was there 7 years ago.

If I had the money I would do AC then ASA in two weeks. It would be great to experience it.

Well even if you have to do them seperate AC is still worth giving a try.

I plan to do it one day. It sounds fun and the grounds look cool. We got a small tour this year.

I wonder if they let you walk on the grass there now. Last time i was there they wouldnt let you because it had taken so long for grass to grow there they didnt want to kill what little they had.

LOL guess they finnaly got grass to keep growing without any problems. They always made us stick to the sidewalks.

Benji,

My advice (as an ex-AC counselor, ex-USSRC marketing/reservations guy, and ex-web guy) is to do a week of each -- the sequence is unimportant, 'cept to suggest that if you do AC first, your need to do laundry during the weekend becomes exceedingly important, due to the higher odds of your getting muddy that week.

If you want to do more fighter-pilot stuff and get that out of your system before a week of shuttle cockpit sims, air conditioning, etc, go to AC first. If you want to stay in the air conditioning, play in the big sims, and not get muddy, then go all-out your last week, I'd say do ASA first.

A lot of your choice will come down to your taste for hot weather and mud - and which of the programs you'd consider "dessert" and which you'd consider "dinner" -- then deciding which you like to eat first.

And as for the grass -- my advice is to stay off of it unless you're in an organized lecture by the MiG, the T-38 or the Sea Sprite. Monkeynautt, if you were running all over the grass, then the AC staff wasn't watching carefully. Believe you me, there's nothing that annoys an alert AC staffmember quicker than seeing people on "our grass." And, yeah, it takes forever to grow back, and the worn places look really sad, so we're defensive about our landscaping.

If it were up to us, we'd pave most of it and cover it up with nice shiny static display aircraft, and we wouldn't need to worry about it. But that takes a while to do.

The counsellor was the one that was taking us on the grass. He never said stay off and he went on it as well.

you know how you get a credit hour from uah for doing asa..do you get anything like that for doing mach 3?

No unfortunately you dont get any college credit for Mach 3.

When I went to AC, if someone went on the grass they had to do push ups. We were maybe 12 or 13 years old and we didn't catch on for a while. I never had to do any as I was not stupid enough to step on the grass, but this other kid on my team did and the counselor gave him this long lecture about not stepping on the grass and then made him do 20 push ups.

I dont remember anyone having to do pushups for walking on the grass. Biut i do remember if you were too noisy in your room at night they would come in make you get out of bed and stand at attention for however long they wanted before they would let you go to bed.

When we were getting the tour of AC the counselor took us over the grass so no one told us about the no grass rule.

I think he was a camp counselor. He was more of a babysitter for us.
