To much skin

Post by ApolloXI »

soc1313cer wrote:This is a disclaimer for anyone going to camp. Don't bring spaghetti tank tops. The counselors won't let you wear them. Apparently they think that the tanks give the wrong messages to the boys. But come on. We wear them all the time when we're not in camp so I don’t really see the problem. But rules are rules. This is something that is not posted on the forms for camp on what to bring and when I went I brought a lot of them but could not wear them. So just a reminder don't bring them.
The thing is during certain Area 51 events such as the spider web thingy you might show to much skin. When I was there I got cold and wished I had a blanket but also there where a few times where it felt like we where in a oven.

Actually I think there is something on the forms that says not to bring them.

i can think of tons of things that you should bring that they don't tell you about....
First, if you're in Mach 1 or 2, you should bring Jeans, so you have something to wear for E&E, and they can stop giving the Mach 1s and 2s the BDUs that the 3s are supposed to wear!
Second, if you happen to have boots, they are extremely useful during E&E and other outdoor activities at AC. Especially if you happen to kick a peice of wood with a nail in it like I did!! Luckily, the boots stopped the nail from hitting my foot, but I do have a hole in my boot now.
Also, bring duct tape. Duct tape fixes EVERYTHING.... Including the coldness of Hab1... Duct tape one of the blankets they give you over the vent, and volia, instant warmth.
Bring a jacket in case it rains, and a sweat shirt and sweat pants in case you get cold in Hab 1 and can't find an extra blanket, or it happens to be chilly outside (yeah right!).
Shower shoes would be a definite must, because I would not trust the floors in those showers!
Bring a sewing kit in case you need to sew anything holes back together or any buttons on clothes (including, sometimes, the ones they issue you!)
If you have your own BDUs, I would strongly suggest you bring them, because the ones they have won't fit as well, and who knows who had them before you did...
Bug spray and netting if you're doing the AC camp out... Man, did we get bitten up!
Hmmm... That's all I can think of for right now.

I brought bug spray and two guys on my team brought duct tape. We found that that was all we ever needed!

duct tape fixes EVERYTHING!!! Becky D's even got a wallet made out of duct tape that she bought (and my best frined made me one out of duct tape herself, and covered it with neon orange electrical tape!)

I own the Jumbo Duct Tape Book!!! Very cool hints inside from Tim and Jim, the Duct Tape Guys. Also, interesting facts.

A bit of duct tape history: Duck Tape was first used by the military (during WWII) because it was waterproof (for ammo storage). Water slid off of it like it was a duck's back. They, of course, used it for everything from Jeep repair to stickin' stuff to their clothes. After the war, the housing industry was booming. It started being used for ducts, so the color was changed from Army camo to the silverish color we're all familiar with.

Now, you've all been enightened. Spread the joy.

lol, I have been enlightened! Yeah we mostly used duct tape for things like my mouth or taping someone to a chair. We also used it along with a sharpie to put callsigns on our flightsuits and giant T's (for Tsiolkovsky) on our t-shirts.

my best friend has an obsession with duct tape, so for her birthday, I bought her the duct tape book. It has all kinds of interesting information in it!

duct tape fixes everything, from the open vent to the hole in my boot (stupid nail!). On the video from a number of years ago, I believe it was in the IMAX for a while, Mission to Mir, this HUGE role of duct tape, with a diameter of like a foot or so, floats on screen in the middle of it... It's really funny...

Bring about 2 or 3 rolls of duct tape, especially if you're staying for 2 weeks, and hide all but one, because SOMEONE will get Duct Tape Happy(COUGHCOUGHELMOCOUGH), and there's no place to get more once you're past the gates.

The duct tape is indespensable during building rockets, and even more so out on the launch pad. Get it in a cool color, much fun, much fun.

Also bring your cell phone, some cards(Not just poker, but Uno, or any other card game you have), a magazine, and a blanket of your own.

Im glad they finally are allowing people to have and use cell phones at camp at least during certain times of the day. It is easier than waiting in line for the phone...

my phone rang in the middle of the pioneer lecture (i forgot to turn it off!), and Pyro said he should take it away, but didn't do anything. I don't understand why we're not allowed to have them... Speaking of things we're not allowed to do - I don't understand why, if we don't like the food they serve us, we're not supposed to go and buy food from the grill....

you know whats worse than your phone ringing in the pioneer lecture? (btw I just put mine on vibrate or silent and let people call at will) This kid's phone went off during the vonT lecture. We were afraid vonT was going to explode. The guy didn't realize it was his phone for the longest time. Then the best part was when vonT's phone rang and he answered it in mid-lecture!

What bring a cell phone

Post by ApolloXI »

I am a person who always wondered what people did before there where cell phones. I don't have one myself but both my parnets have them and guess what ours are ussally off. I think it would be a good idea to bring cell for when the day is done and you are back at the hab. I think it is kind of dumb to carry it with you. Isn't camp a way to get away from the world for a few days. I think it is even worse when people drive while talking on them. Here is a link to one of the best anti drivng while on cell phone adds.
