Thanks for sharing that. I looks like you had a blast. I love being Mission Specialist too. I agree with P-51 about the Post-Space camp depression. And we usually have Space Camp dreams for a while after. And beyond. When I took my nephews to the family camp, we battled the depression on the drive back to Michigan by treating the drive as another mission. We used all of the space camp lingo to describe our trip. "Achieving orbital velocity" "Docking to refuel" etc. It helped a little. But we mostly were missing our new friends, which is something that I find happens every time I go to Space Camp.

Yep, my first two trips to camp were easy transitions because each time, I met my wife as soon as camp was over and started a long road trip to keep my mind off things (in 2012, it was a cross-country sightseeing road trip back to the Pacific Northwest, in 2013 it was a sightseeing tour of central to Western Tennessee and Kentucky) but in 2014, I got on a plane and flew directly home. I had serious post-mission depression for a long time after that.
I also agree about the friends you make (or meet again). Sure, I miss the experience but that's always enhanced by the people you went there with. In 2014, I was there with an all-alumni team (and a trainer we all loved) and it almost killed me to say goodbye to them when we were done.

Thank you for sharing. I am happy you were able to let go and enjoy everything at camp. I remember seeing your mission patch on the Space Camp page. Cherish your memories, keep in touch with your team, and I hope you have the chance to return sometime soon.

Had to post again after reading the blog...nice job Sam! I never did finish mine. I have a partially written blog but I got sick and just never finished it. By the time I felt up to it again, the details weren't as fresh. It was great reliving our weekend through your blog. Our team was amazing. I don't know how I got so lucky to end up with 9 other people who were there to have a blast. No one seemed to be there reluctantly and everyone participated. I really think that the team can make or break the experience and we were so lucky. I hope my October team is half as good.

It's amazing how fast the time goes. I didn't get to SC at all for 2015. It irritated me so much that I had an unnatural reaction to the no-camp blues: https://habforum.hab1.com/viewtopic.php ... 0&p=41926&
I've made it very clear to my wife (who, out of the blue, decided last year I've gone enough times, something we've gone round and round about since then) that I will be going back to Camp in 2016 somehow...
