New to Camp

Post by Andromeda462 »

Hi! I'm going to space academy in 2 weeks (July 29) and i'm so excited! I want to know more about missions and simulations because the space camp site gives little information. Also, I want to know more about the environment in the HAB. Any helpful advice is also appreciated. If anyone is attending the same session as me, please let me know. Thanx :)

Well, I can tell you that the Hab gets very cold at night. It's very noisy during the day, especially during the morning when everyone is getting up and ready for the day.

I really don't know much about space academy. I've ony attended advanced academy and adult camp. I'm sure you will have several hour or hour and a half missions. You will learn what you need to know while you are there.

If its 8 day, you have several two hour missions, followed by a 6 hour EDM, with a super secret surprise. Shhhhh..... Don't tell anybody.

You go to sleep from 10 to 10:30, and wake up way too early. (somewhere from 6:30 to 7) :D

About sims... They're awesome! No matter where you are you'll have a great time with the sims, even mission control. Half the fun is the mics and headsets! They are very immersive, and the cockpit has about every button and switch imaginable. The ISS sims are designed the same way as the modules you see on tv and such, plus one of them that has the greatest thing ever: A motorized door. Hours of entertainment right there.

6 day does fewer sims (i believe three) and there is no 6 hour mission, but you have a position in each area. Orbiter, mission control, and ISS.

Yeah, the Hab is cold and noisy. You can duct tape a pillow over the vent and ask for extra blankets, or bring your own.
