Free Fall rides vs space Shot

Post by karatebando »

I have been reading this site and the space camp site a see that the have a free fall ride. I'm going to camp in the winter and figure they'll close the ride. If Knott's closes Excelerator in the rain, I'm sure they close Space shot in the frost. So I figured I'd find out what I'm missing.

I have rode Supreme Sceam at Knott's Berry Farm and found it boring and slow. (Check out the Knott's.com to find out the details of the ride). In a week I will be going to Disneyland and Cal. Adventures. I'm going to ride the Tower of Terror which drops 13 stories and lifts you out of your seat the whole way down.

I will also ride the mailboomer which goes up 18 stories. It is suppose to mimic one of the strength things that you hit and the light goes up to touch the bell. It apperently travels 180 feet in 4 sec.

So, are any of these remotly close to Space Shot? If they are I'll feel better.

Well.....Kinda similar, but i think the ones you're going on are much much better than teh space shot. It's fun, but those rides are much better.

The Maliboomer is most like Space Shot. They have vomit sheilds on the Maliboomer but they don't have them on Space Shot. Maliboomer also has a line about 50 times longer than Space Shot too, and you can only ride once before you have to wait in line again. Otherwise, the ride is the same. Remember to lift your arms and legs up out in fromt of you - it enhances the weightlessness feeling. Enjoy!

They have Space Shot running in October. It might still be open in December, weather/temperature permitting of course.

every time I have been to Cal. adventures there is absolutly no line what so ever for mailboomer. The only reason I didn't ride it then was because I was scared of hights. I'm hoping the lines will be the same as before. I'm also hoping everyone will still be in school. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I rode space shot during Christmas Camp. I think it just has to be a certain temperature for it to operate.

Really? That suprises me. I gues it depends on the type of ride as well. Well if I do ride it, I'll make sure not to go first just in case. Sacrafice everone else first.

Space Shot will not operate in temperatures less than 50 degrees F or in adverse weather conditions.

that makes a lot of sence to me. I totally understand the reasoning behind that. Like I said early if Knott's wont run Excelerater in the rain because the ride can't go over the top and goes back down the wrong way at frightning speeds. safety first. I'm all for it.

So I just went on Tower of terror and maliboomer the other day. Like supreme scream, maliboomer was slow and boring to me. Tower of terror was slow but it kept you on the edge of your seat. I enjoyed that ride a lot. I rode it twice, even after knowing what was going to happen it caught me off guard. The only free fall ride that has scared me half to death was Free Fall at six flags. It was my first free fall ride, and the only ride I have ever screamed on. That was one of the rides that got me over being a fraid of hights, but it sure scared the heck out of me. I'm still hopping to get the chance to go on space shot. I like compairing my free fall experience. Always looking for a faster one.
