The barracks are simply rooms with bunks and lockers. The 'head' (latrines, toilets, showers) is another big room across the hall. Girls and guys are separated on opposite sides of the building.

I'd say they're pretty cool, but who cares where you sleep - I'd rather be out in the sims than sleeping! (I'd voluntarily sleep just about anywhere at Space Camp or Aviation Chellenge. Oh... wait... I did sleep on the Hab1 stairs one night and on the floor in MOCR another night.) :-P

If you're into the whole military thing like i was the bays are pretty ccool. They are set up to resemble a miliatary barricks. They will have sets of bunk beds abnd lockers. But as space canada says you won't spend much time there other than sleeping that is when your not too excited to sleep. Each bay is named for someone in aviation history.

The only thing i didn't really love about the dorms at AC, was that the walls were not so thick (and if i recall, there may have been a small gap where the wall meets the ceiling).. and the mach I and II girls in the bay nextdoor were always keeping us up.

we made that mistake the first night we were there. there were only 7 of us on mach III.. and 5 of us were girls.. so we had the whole room to ourselves. it was pretty exciting until Storm came in and yelled at us.
we tried to reason with the mach I and II girls in the bay nextdoor, but they didn't quiet down until one of the counselors threatened them.

The best thing about the AC sleeping quarters is that they're not nearly as cold as the Hab rooms are. My week at AC was the most comfortable sleep i've had in all of my 7 weeks in Huntsville.

AC bays definitely kick Space Camps out of the water... you can actually sleep in them and on a semi decent matress... :) Worst part of X-Mas camp is that 2 out of our 3 years they just shoved us in the hab anyways. :( No fair, false advertisement, lol... WOW!!! 5 girls. I didn't even have that in the summer... I was the only chick on my team one year... that was interesting.

it was so funny.. i never would have thought going in to it that there would have been only 7 machIII kids that week (it was a 2 day school week where i lived), and then when i found out there there were only 2 boys, i was stunned. the girls rocked out AC that week :P

and i absolutely agree... my nights in AC were by far the warmest and most comfortable i ever spent at camp!

didn't you love having a small team!? i thought it was great, because i was able to become closer with my teammates and we had more group bonding. on the other side.. having a large team is great too, because those were always the weeks that i walked away with more friends!

My first Christmas Camp we had... 12 kids and they had scheduled two teams for mach 3... they put 5 guys and 1 girl on each team... guess they wanted equal numbers??? lol. I dunno it was Grunt and Beaver changing everything last minute. I love small teams... you get SO much extra sim time. :)

I went to ASA the first full week (or at least close to that time) after Sept. 11th. Four of us showed up. Three girls and one guy. Poor guy.

We slept in the Space Camp bays over in Hab 2 which are very similar to the AC bays. Not as warm though. :(
