AC missions

Post by Boomerang »

I thought we could talk about the end of the week missions everyones team flew at AC. The mission my team flew i highly doubt is used anymore after September 11th. We got a diffrent point of view for our mission. We Were flying as Iranian pilots flying F-16's to attack an american Aircraft carrier with anti ship missiles. 2 planes including mine survived the attack and we were given a secondary target, A nuclear power plant that had been taken over by US Navy SEALs. My pilot and i flew CAP over the area while the other plane went in for the attack. He succeded in destroying the power plant while we took out two counselors who had gotten into sims after the other teammates had been shot down. Unfortunately after we took out the second counselor a third one shot us down but the mission was successful since the last plane acomplished the mission. Like i said i seriously doubt they use that scenario anymore but it was fun. One piece of advice for people who havent gone but want to go. when you do the premission briefing for one of the counselors where you have to lay out your entire flight plan be sure to know all the facts. The counselor really raked our team leader over the coals with questions about the mission plan right down to our formation and facts on the missiles we would be using.

Wow! While I can understand the lessons that can be learned by flying a mission such as that...yeah...I can't imagine in these times that they would still run that one!

Our end of the week mission

Post by maverick »

In our mission we had to fight against the Kosanese Army (a fake country), and we had to bomb the compound. We were instructed by Grunt (who acted the role of the U.S. infantry commander) to not accidently bomb his tanks or he will slit our throats while we were sleeping!

Before briefing my counselor did not instruct us to bring oen and paper, but I brought one along and took notes. I remember myself rushing to write down the frequency numbers down. The other counselors were puzzled and acted angry because we did not bring writing materials (they wondered why I was the only one in my team who brought something to write with).

Monkeynautt-

Mach III is not hard. Like ASA, no previous experience is required (before that I had been in 1 ASA session). I came in knowing barely anything about military aviation.

True you really dont need to have any back ground in military aviation You'll learn plenty while you're their. Its a great program and its alot of fun. The sim sessions are challenging and the counselors are great.

Monkeynautt-

I hope you get Captain America (aka Skeletor) - he is pretty relaxed and is not strict at all. Also if you do attend ask him about the person who attended all six programs one after the other.

The counselors I saw at my session:

Tarzan, Doolittle, Grunt, SAC, Captain America (dope, I remember there were more)

I saw Link there too. There were also three counselor trainees- a female who had AFROTC, a male who had Army ROTC, and a guy who had AFROTC.

They are tough but you get a whole sim session to practice 2 if you get the air base landings down quickly the first night.
