Difference in CA and AL AC

A place for ACers to come and hang out after a hard day of escape-and-evade or survival training.

Difference in CA and AL AC

Post by maverick »

I heard that in CA they have paintball, in AL they do not, and the simulators in both places are different.

While this might have been true (I don't know for sure), there currently isn't a California AC, so the point of whether they do or don't have these differences is currently moot at the moment...

...but if you've got $3 million lying around somewhere...well, I heard California needs $2 million to open back up, so give the final million to me! :D

AC going kaput

Post by maverick »

I remember our counselors telling us to get more people to come to AC- all the boys filled up one room of the barracks.

I hope that the Alabama one will not become bankrupt.

I dunno...the Huntsville one's been going pretty strong since it opened in 1990. As far as I know, it's not in any danger of being cancelled.

...though I don't know for sure, I'd be willing to bet anything that enrollment in the Space Camp programs is much higher than AC...

The california space camp site is still up. If you go to www.spacecampwest.com It still works. I went a couple of weeks agoso it should still be there. Also, I read somewhere on the net that they hope to open California space camp by the end of the summer. I hope space camp can recover. It's such an awesome place. I want to send my kids one day. (need a husband first!!)

yea, I went to the CA AC for Mach II. We played paintball for E&E and the sims were different. The Mach II sims had canopys like the Mach IIIs in AL, but in CA they were one seaters and half the team trained in the sims while the other half worked the tower then we would switch off, it was fun gettin to do tower and flying. Since it was on an old military base, we stayed in old officers quarters...it was niiice.
