4/5-Day Program
Ages 9 - 11
Dates & Tuition (4 Day Programs)
Dates & Tuition (5 Day Programs)
(9 year olds must be currently attending or have completed the 4th grade.)

FLIGHT TRAINING

Trainees master a high-performance jet fighter and learn the basics of flight dynamics, wilderness survival and teamwork. Theyll experience the same training all fighter pilots go through.

AVIATION CHALLENGE offers two MACH I track options:

Sign up for the Thunderbird Track and join the U.S. Air Force team, where trainees learn to fly the USAF F-15 Strike Eagle! Then get ready for the Air Force vs. Navy competition. Who will rule the skies?
Check six! Here comes the U.S. Navy/ Marine Corp team! The Blue Angel Track puts trainees in the cockpit of the Navys best fighter, the F/A-18 Super Hornet. Then its "Tallyho" and "fights on!" Hornet vs. Eagle, where skill in the sky will decide the day. Track options are booked on a first-come, first-served basis. Wait lists are not available.
Whether you have Air Force blue or Navy gold flowing through your veins, AVIATION CHALLENGE MACH I is the place for you! Trainees learn to fly the same fighter jets pilots use to rule the skies. They will spend seven missions in the cockpit learning how to put their jet through its paces. From brief to debrief, each mission is jam-packed with high-performance fun.

Do you have the right stuff? Youll find out when you pit your skills against your teammates and advance to the TOPGUN finals where the best meet the best. Only one can emerge victorious. Will you be the MACH I "TOPGUN"?

LAND & WATER SURVIVAL
Are you a survivor? Trainees will be after completing AVIATION CHALLENGE Survival Training. Theyll get the same survival training real fighter pilots receive. In water and on land, we will prepare them to succeed in any "SURVIVOR" challenge. On land, theyll learn to build shelters with only the material a fighter pilot would have if he or she had to eject from their aircraft.

Do you have water? Well tell trainees where to find it and how to make sure its safe to drink. How about food? Animal or plant, poisonous or not, trainees will know all the answers necessary to survive off the land.

Our survival course was created by Sergeant Major Jerry Gleason. Descended from Oglala Sioux ancestry and a highly-decorated Green Beret, SGM Gleason was the Armys Chief Survival Instructor when he retired.

SECRETS OF FLIGHT
Got a science project coming up? At AVIATION CHALLENGE, trainees will learn all the secrets of flight. What makes an airplane fly? We can show them. We won't teach them in a classroom, but standing right next to the real thing.

In celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Flight, AVIATION CHALLENGE introduces Aviation Pioneers. From our first "small steps" at Kitty Hawk to our "giant leap" to the moon, trainees take the journey through over 100 years of aviation. The journey begins with an unforgettable IMAX® movie visual experience and continues with a week of activities and learning about the men and women who blazed the path of our aviation history.

MACH I is the ultimate aviation experience. From the biggest and baddest high-performance jet simulator available to kids today, to the most realistic survival training around, we promise your child an unforgettable experience.

4-DAY PROGRAM
New for this summer (June 1-July 27 only), trainees can experience MACH I in a new, condensed experience. Trainees will arrive on Sunday afternoon and will graduate at 9:00 a.m. CT Thursday. The time in between will be spent doing their best impression of a veteran fighter pilot. Through the rigors of land and water survival training, to the pursuit of the coveted TOPGUN title, theyll receive the ultimate test. Accept the challenge and show us what youve got!

We reserve the right to cancel a session date if participation numbers are not adequate.

Overnight expedient shelter stay not offered to MACH I.

FLIGHT TRAINING
Are you the smartest kid in class? Maybe the fastest person on the track team?

Well, strap into the Navys F/A-18 Super Hornet and see how you do in a dogfight at 10,000 feet. Thats right, strap into the jet, its time to fly! Get ready for the most fun you can have in a three-dimensional environment.

At AVIATION CHALLENGE, trainees get to exercise a high-performance fighter jet the way its meant to be done. Seven sessions of high- performance jet simulations await them. This is no video game. Trainees step into the cockpit and learn the basics of air-to- air and air-to-ground fighter tactics. "TOPGUN" competition is just a few days away, so they must make every second count.

Will you be able to tell your friends you mastered the most keenly fought competition at AVIATION CHALLENGE and emerged victorious? Maybe all youll have to do is show them the "TOPGUN" patch on your jacket.

SEARCH, RESCUE & SURVIVAL The nations most secret spy plane is missing and feared down behind enemy lines. Heres your chance to feel what its like to be a real NAVY SEAL. Your team will be tasked with finding the downed aircraft, recovering all TOP SECRET documents and rescuing the pilot without getting caught by Aggressor Forces! Youll need all your training to succeed!

SURVIVAL TRAINING
Survival training at AVIATION CHALLENGE is REAL. Our course is designed by Sergeant Major Jerry Gleason. A highly decorated combat veteran, SGM Gleason was the U.S. Armys number one survival expert when he retired. Theyll learn critical life saving skills in this "real world" course.

On land, theyll learn about shelters, food and water procurement, field first aid, fire craft and safety. In the water, theyll learn drown proofing skills and how to make expedient flotation devices out of ordinary objects like pants and shirts. We cover it all in AVIATION CHALLENGE Survival Training and well put them to the test.

ABOUT AVIATION
Were all about aviation and if your child is too, AVIATION CHALLENGE is the place for him or her. Not many kids can say theyve seen up close and personal the two primary aviation combatants used in Vietnam. Your child can at AVIATION CHALLENGE. Theyll see the F-4 PHANTOM and the MIG-17 FRESCO and learn the secret behind the birth of the Navys TOPGUN school. Theyll learn about aviation in the best aviation classroom in the world, a cockpit.

If aviation history is your childs thing, weve got that covered too. Theyll learn about the Red Baron, or Amelia Earhart, Chuck Yeager, or Jackie Cochran (the first woman to break the sound barrier).

In celebration of the 100 th Anniversary of Flight, AVIATION CHALLENGE introduces Aviation Pioneers. From our first "small steps" at Kitty Hawk to our "giant leap" to the moon, trainees will journey through over 100 years of aviation. Theyll begin their journey with an unforgettable IMAX® movie visual experience and continue with a week of activities and learning about the men and women who blazed the path of our aviation history.

If your child loves aviation, AVIATION CHALLENGE is a learning experience he or she will never forget. From the pursuit of the coveted "TOPGUN" title, to the deepest recesses of our wilderness survival training areas, theyll find out what theyre made of.

And here is the mach 3 description.

Aviation Challenge Mach III
Aviation Challenge: Mach III
5/6-Day ProgramAges 15 - 18
Click Here For Dates & Tuition

MACH III is a program designed for people who want to take their interest in jet fighters to (literally) a higher level. In addition to learning the fundamentals of flying, trainees progress through increasingly sophisticated simulator missions, which will put their skills to the ultimate test.

But MACH III is more than just simulator training. Its also about teamwork, when trainees and their squadron mates work together to be top aviators. AVIATION CHALLENGE puts them one step closer to their dream of flying.

FLIGHT SIMULATORS & COMPETITION
Trainees practice basic flight maneuvers and then progress to advanced combat missions in our F-15 Eagle simulators. The realism of our state-of-the-art simulation and high-resolution graphics will take their breath away! This is no video game! "

Tally-ho" and "Fights on." Trainees see how many air-to-air victories they can score over their opponents. Then, they prepare for the ultimate competition, RED FLAG. This event combines flight, land and water survival, and escape and evasion (E&E) tactics. A trainees individual talents, as well as those of his or her teammates, are reflected in this realistic exercise.

Maybe theyll make the "TEST PILOT" cut and qualify to take their shot at landing the Space Shuttle. Theres only one way to find out, AVIATION CHALLENGE.

LAND & WATER SURVIVAL
Take a deep breath. Youre about to slide 100 feet down the "zipline" in a simulated parachute splash down, or survive a crash at sea in the "Helo Dunker." Can you maintain your cool and survive?

Trainees will experience it all at the Aviation Challenge Water Survival facility. Theyll spend time outside learning wilderness survival just like real fighter pilots or feel what its like to be on a NAVY SEAL team with everything on the line. Whatever the challenge, theyll be put to the ultimate test!

PRINCIPLES OF FLIGHT
Mission planning and execution are not complete without understanding the principles of flight, including aeronautics, aerodynamics, jet propulsion, aviation history, flight physiology and more. At Mach III, trainees will learn these principles first hand. They learn what its like to experience a high "G" turn in the "Fuge" and how their senses can lie when they ride the "Barney Chair."

At AVIATION CHALLENGE, trainees are surrounded with actual jet aircraft like the F-14 Tomcat, F-16 Fighting Falcon, F-4 Phantom, AV-8 Harrier, MIG-17 Fresco and SR-71 Blackbird. Theyll see the power and beauty of these machines up close and listen carefully as their instructor provides them with the intricate details about the critical design concept of each aircraft.

SCOUT QUALIFICATIONS
Boy Scouts will earn full credit for their Aviation and Wilderness Survival* Merit Badges, as well as partial credit for First Aid, Fire Safety and Orienteering. * Weather dependent.

SIX-DAY SUMMER PROGRAM
MACH III is six days during the summer! From May 24 through Aug 22, all program sessions begin on Saturday and end on Friday. Trainees will get an extra day of simulations, activities and fun. Also, they may be eligible for discounted airfare with the Saturday night stay over. For more information about possible discounted airfares, please contact Sterling travel at 1- 800-241-5106.

TWO WEEK OPTION Six days not enough? How about two weeks? Trainees can now pair their MACH III training with Advanced SPACE ACADEMY. Numerous career aviators go on to become astronauts. Theyll go though Advanced SPACE ACADEMY and earn their astronaut wings. Refer to the Advanced SPACE ACADEMY section on page 9 for specific program details.
