Movie Stars with Sundance!!!

Post by Spanky »

If you have been around AC you know that from time to time the facility is used for media events. In the spring of 1997, a former AC Assistant MAnager (Not Rat or myself) asked Rat and I to serve as technical advisors for a movie.

I will not say the title of this movie (never made it to video) but it need lots of work and help. The old AC M3 sim bay was used as the CIC area on an aircraft carrier. It was a story about a navy pilot during the gulf way and the used the sim area for the carrier and an old F-4 cockpit we had as their aircraft. We had reviewed theeir script and made changes in the term and lines they used. We got rid of useless lines like "Banking left, banking left"....but one did not get rid will live with us forever.

Our hero Sundance is trying to land his crippled jet on the carrier and his 2 buds are taling him down FORM THE CIC!! (Last I checked that is what LSOs are for, but they did not want that change. So Sundance is low on gas, jet is damaged and his buds are watching the radar....hoping their buddy to the deck and we hear the immortal line......

"Bring it on home Sundance.....momma's cooking dinner".

OMG!

That movie was terrible. The script was awful. I remember you and I sitting in the briefing room literally murdering their script.

Sundance: "Hey, guys. Check my tail!"

Spanky and Sandrat start convulsively laughing.

Sundance: "Tower, this is Sundance ready to land."

Spanky now laughing so hard that Mountain Dew is threatening to fly from his nose.

Sundance: "My engine doesn't work."

Sandrat wiping eyes as the two of us tried, in vain, to keep from laughing loud enough where they could hear us.

Boy, am I glad that movie never made it to any type of video.

That information is classified. To protect the innocent we cannot let that information out. Rat and I did find it. We we view it, we might let out the info for all to view.

If for no other reason that to laugh at it. I really hope our names aren't listed. Maybe we could sue for defamation of character.....:)

c'mon now - you can't tell us something exists and then not tell us how we can enjoy your torment...

If stumps had to deal with the amazing race episode being played in the cafeteria while working, then y'all can suffer through giving some alumni humerous materials.

Note To All:

Spanky and I have determined we will locate and purchase this movie. We will view it, and then if it meets the minimum requirements for continued torment, we will let you know its name.

I filmed a Discovery Channel special for Space Camp in 2000, and it had a better plot and acting than we saw for this movie.....

Yep...I'm all over that puppy. I did all of the meetings, the competitions, the whole thing. It was a great experience, but the favorite of the whole thing was my time with Story Musgrave.

Spanky and I need to write a thread about that experience and all of the things you didn't see that were hilarious.

That's cool about the movie. Would be interesting to see from the sounds of it. I saw Grunt on TV after he moved and was working up top, he was on some show (can't remember which) with someone else promoting Space Camp and stuff... Kinda neato. He was the bestest!

Oh I think Rat and I have done enough media events that we could do a whole episode of AFV on SC and AC. Let's see....

SpaceCamp (the movie)
Discover Channel - Secrets of the Internet - 1996
Nick Cannon Show - 2002 or 03??
Conan O'Brien Show - 1998
Unknown Movie that Rat and I will not name
Media Camp - 2003 - After the Columbia accident
Apollo 13 - USA Network's Ready for the Weekend

I am sure there are more things we did as well.
