I am also ver active in community theatre and our school theatre guild. And i am also a computer nerd! Some of the things i do. Anybody else have interesting hobbies? Oh yeah and if i am lucky i get to get S.C.U.B.A certified. Did you all like the scuba experience at camp???

I had lots of fun and there is a place close to me that i can get certified at and its pretty cheap too. I still havent quite talked my mom into letting me do it yet. :D But i did explain to her that more people die by being struck by lightning every year than SCUBA divers. :D

Geesh unitl you asked that i never realised just how many space related hbbies and activities i do compared to non space stuff. Non space stuff i enjoy is camping, fishing, reading, computers, the internet, and writting.
I'm also an assistant scout master with the boy scouts, and a huge star Trek and Sci Fi fan in general.

Non-Space hobbies: hmmmmm....

Well, I guess now one of them is posting here because that's all I've done today :D !!

Now that you mention it it seems I don't really have any! Between work and school, I don't have much time for anything else! Besides... i don't really consider designing rockets a "space hobby", though i guess it is.

Hobbies

Post by SpaceCanada »

I know this is an old posting, but I'd like to make a contribution to this topic so that people may have a better understanding of who I am.

Miniature biography: My name is Jennifer. I was born in March 1983, which makes me 20 years old at the time of this posting. I live in Alberta Canada, and have been to camp once after saving money for about 4 or 5 years, and then the second time I was granted a scholarship to return. I graduated from post-secondary school at the top of my class and am now a member of the "real world" working class. Someday I hope to return to camp; we all do... My name SpaceCanada was given to me at camp by my fellow crewmates, and it has stuck. Other nicknames include 'Shorty', 'SpaceGirl', and just plain 'Space'.

I have many hobbies, many of which have absolutely nothing to do with space. 8O <gasp!> Although, one look at my bedroom will reveal my true passion of space!

Let me see here, first the space-related ones:
- I volunteer with NASA Quest, answering questions for NASA from the public.
- I mentor a student with the SCIberMENTOR programme with her interest in space science and astronomy.
- I am the most amateur astronomer out there, but I love to go star gazing. I most like astrophotography, the art of capturing the stars and stellar objects on film.
- I love to build models of spacecraft. My most recent achievement was the entire Discovery Kids Space LEGO collection. (I build plastic models too)

Now, the non-spacey ones:
- I volunteer with Girl Guides of Canada as a leader of a local Brownie unit.
- I teach swimming, diving, and canoeing at the local swimming pool. I'm a fish! I also have a SCUBA license, althogh I have not used it in a few years...
- I am obsessed with photography!!! Ever since my father gave me his ancient 35mm SLR camera with the collection of lenses, my camera is nearly another extremity to my body; it goes everywhere with me!
- I also love crafty things like knitting, sewing, baking, scrapbooks, etc. I guess that comes from the double X chromosomes I was given at birth. It has helped in many ways though... I am able to tailor myself a new royal blue flight suit (I only have the sky blue one) that actually fits! My Adult Small is about two sizes too big in the body, but the arms are too short. :?

Anyway, that's enough from me for now. I would love to get to know the rest of you as well.
