NOCAMP 2015 patch...

Post by p51 »

Okay, I'm very bummed about not getting to SC at all this year, especially since they finally brought back the week-long adult program (a year after I was ready for it and had the time off).
So, in a colossal case of sour grapes, I decided to make a lack-of-camp patch:

Team Vandenberg, you ask? Well launch facility 6 there was going to be the place they launched manned missions from with the STS. That never happened, so it seemed fitting.

Too funny, Lee. In a sad way, I mean. I promise I won't have any more fun, in solidarity with you. Starting tomorrow. No wait, tomorrow won't work. I'll try, though, if I get the chance.

John, I hope you and all the 'HootCamp" team folks have a great time.
It's killing me that I'm missing it this year and possibly next year if certain things happen at the office this summer...

Train With next week will be interesting, that's for sure. I'm hoping we will blaze a trail for the return of Adult ASA for good. 39 signed up, last I heard. That should send a message that there's a demanding market out there.

Did Low Ropes this morning and Climbing Tower with Zip Line tonight in the DARK. Pretty extreme for a group of mostly geriatrics, myself included. They have assured us this week will be a punishing ordeal, and I believe them.

We will not fly Orion to Luna. Too easy, I guess. I wish I knew more about growing potatoes.

Keep in mind, anyone not making SC this year is welcome to join "Team Vandenberg"
You'll automatically be awarded the "Nocamp" commander's cup award, best non-mission award, but only I will get the "Lack of the right stuff" award... because I came up with this.
kind of like the Un-Birthday scene from Alice in Wonderland, I guess... :?

Team Vandenberg...
Hilarious! It'd be funny if you actually got that design embroidered and sewn onto your flight suit.

I actually looked into that. The guy who made my team patches for my first year could do them one at a time, but he'd moved and no longer has access to the machine he used.
If I knew someone who could make less than 10 patches, I would have done so.
Now that SC season, for the most part, is done for 2015, hope springs eternal and I desperately hope I'll be able to make it in 2016, so that the Nocamp 'experience' would be forever behind me...
