Michael Crichton dead at 66

Post by Mercergl »

I don't know if anyone else has heard, but sadly, famous author/director Michael Crichton died on Tuesday Nov. 4 from cancer. I don't know about anyone else, but I was a big fan of his work and I'm shocked to hear this. Also, he was planning to release a new novel next month, and while I believe the release date has been pushed back, it will still be released sometime this year. Anyone else out there a fan?

I was quite shocked when I heard the news. I have read many of his books and he is one of my favourite authors and Jurassic Park is one of my favourite novels.

I think you mean he went extinct.

Yeah, too bad. Jurassic Park is in a class all its own. And that man wrote it!

I was very surprised to hear about his death as well. Cancer sucks. I enjoyed his books. They were great, quick reads. Excellent for long car or airline trips. I think Airframe was my favorite book that he wrote. While I figured out the main issue behind the central plot point after the first page and a half, it was still a fun story. And he did an excellent job of poking fun at aerospace engineers (which is, well, me. But he was so spot on.)
I know I'll miss his stories.

I didn't even know he was ill, but the news was shocking to me as well. He wrote a lot of good books, movies, and television shows. Most every movie or show I liked has his name in the credits someplace. And books, I think I own five or six of his, all great reads. He will be missed.
