Children's Orbiter Toy

Post by pilotgirl21 »

I found this toy at the Chicago Children's Museum at Navy Pier and thought I would share the photos with everyone. I don't know if it's easy to see with my photos, but can you find the very obvious error?

The wing says Discovery and the nose says Columbia if you can't see it clearly. Just thought I would share that with everyone!

Yup, I caught that from the first pic. also, i'm not sure US is written on the OMS pod, as long as we're being picky

That's okay, based on the picture, it doesn't look like the model actually has real OMS pods (which is very common in less expensive and especially smaller models).

And, to be picky again, the flag is wrong. It should be 'flying in the wind' and thus should be 'backwards' on the right side of the orbiter.

Oh, the joys of being space nerds...

I think I saw that same toy in the Dallas/Fort Worth airport a couple weeks ago. I don't take the presentation of (non-collectible) toys very seriously. However, I would hope that models would be accurate. Just enjoy it. :)
