Spanky and I refuse to answer this question on the grounds that we'll be branded REALLY OLD. 8)

Just a little older. Not by much. LOL Sometimes I wish I were younger, but then I'd have to trade my life today for it and it's just too much fun right now.

Sometimes I wish I was a bit younger too, but I can't complain. I've traveled quite a bit and I wouldn't want to give that up just to be a little younger.

*ooh, but my sore back* ;)

Working at NASA

Post by rkolker »

Fatal291 wrote:Any of u guys work for nasa or anything? I'm trying to get an internship but no one from there ever responds
It may be easier to get an intership with one of the contractors. I worked on the Space Program from 1989-2001, all with contractors, at JSC, KSC, Denver (on some Mars probes) and Fairmont, WV. At JSC I had access to Mission Control, and at KSC our offices were right behind the Press Site, 3 miles from pad 39A.

The NASA web site, if you poke around, can tell you which companies do work for them, but any big aerospace contractor probably does.

Oh, and I've been going to Space Camp as an adult longer than some of you are old, so you can imagine how old I am :D !

In my real life I am a high school teacher, teaching learning disabled kids to read. This summer I am working for a school/camp program and doing a mini space camp. (We have done model rockets, various space science projects-- i.e. egg drop, etc., a "Mars exploration trip", and we also have a partial simulator that was built by an ex-NASA engineer.) Too bad this isn't my real job but it is lots of work!

If I could do it again, I would have liked to outreach education for NASA.
I don't think they have many positions like that anymore.
