Well i'm 27 alot of times i geel like the old fogey around here but there a few older people than me especially in the councilor ranks but also some campers as well. I seemed to have found most of the campers not including counselors who were also campers tend to be younger.

Actually NASA's work force is becoming younger. And its becoming a real problem. We waited so liong to go back to the moon alot of the skills that were learned in Apollo are being lost because so many engimneers with those skills are retired or are retiring and the younger ones domnt have them. NASA has briught back alot of the older engineers recently to work for them and help take the next generation of engineers into the fuure.

This isn't just a problem at NASA. In the aerospace industry overall (especially on the military side) there is a major age gap. This was mostly due to the massive layoffs in the mid-80's/early '90's. The aerospace companies laid-off a lot of their younger, less experienced people (which makes sense) and then had a number of years where very few new hires were brought in. It's only been in the last about 6-8 years that large numbers of new college grads have been hired in. (I'm on the leading edge of that.) And while it's not a problem yet, it's going to be in the not too distant future. Fortunately, many of the "old guard" are delaying retirement at least a bit, or coming back part-time as contractors. But there are skill sets that are being lost, especially in the area of skills that aren't used regularly (interpreting flow visualization pictures from wind tunnel tests is one that I've experienced first-hand).

Well i work for NASA Langley's education department thriugh the visitor center but dont have the contacts to help you there. I'm assuming you have been to the NASA website and checked to see if they even have any internships currently available. Be aware that due to budget overruns with the shuttle and ISS and pressure to work on the new space initiative without the promised budget increases many programs have been drasticly cut back or cancelled especially in the sciences, aviation and ediucation.
