well. i am in the glorious hometown of SpaceNerd (Lyn)....Litchfield, MI. Let's see....there are amish people who ride around in horse-drawn buggies! and no stoplights!
We have to drive 20 minutes to a stoplight....and there are lots of fields and cows and...machines I have never seen before. combines, tillers, and plows...oh my! haha I just thought I would share.

I used to live in Carlisle Pennsylvania and there were a lot of amish farms around us. Seeing horse-drawn buggies wasn't so uncommon there

on my way to my old college in potsdam, new york which is the absolute middle of nowhere, i saw amish people trotting in their buggies down the road often. there was even an amish people crossing sign in one spot. very interesting. i saw a thing on 60 minutes once about amish people because they accidentally have incest a lot cuz its hard to find someone youre not related to somehow in a small community like that, so the kids were coming out with birth defects. it was sad.

Relax. Amish culture is drastically different from ours. Its normal to be curious and if you ever notice they're curious about our culture too. The only problems arise when people treat them rudely. That doesnt happen here because we've all grown up beside them. If it seems to be an interesting culture to you i suggest that you look it up on the internet and check things out a little more. There is a lot more to Amish life than just what we see! I personally find their dialect amazing to listen to as they speak what could be considered a German and English hybrid that changes in nearly every community they have. Its very interesting to study.
