The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Post by ApolloXI »

I want with a lunar digging team here at FIT to go see The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy when it came out. I liked it but there where some differences from the book though.
I was wondering who else is going to see it or has seen it.

I would very much like to go see it. It may end up being me, myself, and I if I can't find anyone else who wants to go with me, but I'm good with that.

Psh... Go by yourself! I did.

I loved the movie but you cant look at it as an account of what happen in the books. The movie is best considered a seperate entity much like the books are a seperate entity from the original radio show. Just go into it with an open mind and i have no doubt you'll love it! I had a big smile on my face through the whole movie! :D

So I take it that I should go and see it then. I've been waiting to hear what people think about it before I go and see it.

Even though the movie's different from the book, is it still true that you'll be lost if you haven't read the book? I haven't, so I may wait to see the movie till I've read it.

You'll only be lost in that you wont know little background info and what not. You can watch the movie as a whole and enjoy it. Many of my friends havnt read the books and still thought the movie was awesome. You should def. read the books though even if you see the movie first!

*embarrassed grin*
I haven't read the books yet. I don't have them. I heard a summary from my dad though and was like, hey! That sounds pretty cool, I want to go see it! I guess it's something more to add to my huge reading list.

Gahhhhhh. READ THEM! READ THEM ALL RIGHT NOW! RIGHT NOW!

But really Douglas Adams is a spectacular writer and the detail in the books is insane. They are an absoultly wonderful read and if i'm not mistaken you can get the entire collection in one large book now in days. i had to buy them all seperatly :(. The opening in the very first book is sooo very good. My personal favorite in the increasingly inaccuratly named trilogy was The Restaurant at the end of the Universe. The title says enough! Also Adams has some other books that i've been told are spectacular but i have yet to read them.

On the good side if you're a good reader then the books are fast because they flow very well in their own special way.

My family went and saw it last night. I found it very entertaining, lots of laughs. My mom didn't enjoy it too well, but my brother, dad and I did. My dad's read the books and watched the original British series, so although he enjoyed it, he knew what was left out and was a little disappointed, but not enough to ruin the movie. :D

I thought it was an okay movie. Do you think they will make other ones like the end of the universe restaurant.

Since I haven't read the books, I don't know (my dad already got after me about that). He's read the books and thinks they might make another. He said they left enough open at the end that it's possible.

Hmmm... Thats a tough one. They did indeed leave it open enough to but i guess it would depend on how well recieved the first one was. If they were going to make another one i would definitly want it to be centered more towards the restaurant at the end of the universe because that book was so much fun!
