Hmm
I am non-partisan. But yeah, whoever sucks less, that's the way to go.

I am sure glad I don't have to vote in the USA - I don't particularly care for the politics down there. Mind you, I don't particularly like the politics here either, but they aren't as ummm... well... strange.
yeah but isnt quebec having some vote about becoming their own country? i dont know. i just heard it somewhere.

Switzerland is a great model of a near-perfect socialist society. Canada is a great place to live too... I think Switzerland and Canada battle for the best country to live in on a year-to-year basis. Hooray!

Quebec had a big separation thing a while back. They still want to seprate, but it will never happen. Albert will separate before Quebec ever will. :P

As for the USA - it has some great features, lovely people, and a few other good things, like NASA and US Space Camp, but they have a lot of things backwards to the way I like it. It's all a perspective thing, I'm sure.

Hey guys i know we are all obviously supporters of the space program here and i would just like to point out something about Kerry. Lets keepn in mind he has no plans to support the Bush Space Initiative at all. Infact from what i've read he'll have us just keep going to low eart orbit and funding the space station. Although i don't think the Bush plan is the way thats going to get us back to the moon or Mars i think its a step in the right direction. Atleast he is willing and trying to increase NASA's funding and trying to set their eyes on more lofty ambitions. John Kerry isn't he seems to want NASA to keep doing the same old thing. Just something to keep in mind before you vote.

I think Kerry is saying that because he has to fix so much in terms of economic problems caused by war. So, he probably wont want to spend millions or billions of dollars to put a man back on the moon and such untill he can stabalize the economy. I don't think its because he just thinks its fun to orbit earth alot. (I went to his website, but couldnt find his opinions on NASA, do you have a link?) I think that if he gets elected, stabilizes the economy, he would consider many proposals on expanding the human presence in space.

Unfortunatel;y the comments i made come from an article a while back. Kerry doesn't want to dismantkle the program or anything he just wants to continue with current programs for the time being as well as replace the shuttle. And whether Bush is reelected or not this moon mars initiative will take many administrations to acomplish if it can be acomplished at all. However to kill the program now which Kerry would do would probably mean never seeing it restarted again. Its more about momentum. 4 years with no support for the program is a long time in which research that should be happening wouldn't be and that could make the whole thing even more unlikely than it already is. I honestly see 3 things coming out of the moon mars initiative and none one of them will be on the moon or mars. I see the ISS being completed though not by 2010 as Bush Proposes. And i see the shuttle being replaced with something more capable than the Space Taxi concept that was so prevalent before the Bush initiative. Third i see the reseacrch that is being done going along way towards future exploration. Hopefully one day the support will be there for the moon mars initiative to happen. But in the current climate i don't think it will. And this isn't just politicaly either. Ever since the Columbia Accident last year NASA has been tucking its tail between its legs on aqnything that involves more risk than flying straight to the ISS and back to earth. The cancelation of the last Hubble servicing is an example. They don't want to do the servicing because they say its too risky to the crew not to beable to dock with the ISS. Well with a return to the moon and especially with a trip to Mars the risk will be much greater to the crew. So What makes anyone think NASA will have the guts to do those when they won't even make a servicing mission to Hubble in low earth orbit. NASA has losts its nerve in a business that involves extreme risk no matter how many precautions you take. And in a business like that it can be a deathblow to any major programs.

See, Kerry will actually try and stabalize the economy, so that perhaps we won't try and spend government money that doesn't exist to try and fuel NASA.

Seen the national debt clock recently?

In addition, Switzerland has the best public education system in the world. And the best sexual education in the world, resulting in the lowest teen pregnancy rates.

Their secret?
Not teaching abstinence-only.
If you still believe that that's an accurate curriculum, you haven't been a teenager recently.

What are you talking about there? That kerry would kill bush's agenda to go back to the moon, to mars, finish ISS and return the shuttle to flight? I havent seen anything to support that. I think that whatever bush has proposed and what congress has passed, will stick. But part of what bush said was nothing new, a trip back to the moon or to mars. NASA has been working on a trip to Mars since 1958 (Vonbraun worked on it starting in 1952). (NASA Mars Mission Profile CR-2001-208928 declassified) So, I don't think by any means bush is saving the space program. Pretty much I think it just comes down to money and support from the american people. Congress wont give the money to do huge projects if the american people arent behind it. I completley agree that risk is a huge factor and that the people who take that risk know it and believe that it is worth it.
