Hab1 Gathering

Post by Richasi »

Ya know, I was thinking.

How hard do you think it would be to get some of us together at
Huntsville?

I ran across this at the SpaceCamp site:
http://www.spacecamp.com/museum/catered.asp

We could have a Hab1 event right at camp! We wouldn't have to spend the money to actually go to camp but we could enjoy the USSRC and have a blast there. Have our own "alumni reunion" or just get together to meet one another face to face...

Any takers or am I just off my rocker? :)

Sure you could. It's not that expensive to fly to Huntsville, or drive for that matter, and it could be a nice little weekend gathering. We could all enjoy the center and each other's company.

Right. In fact, we could unveil it to the Hab1 members THEN...

And if someone at SpaceCamp actually had good news sense. They could pick up on this story and write something about it. "Alumni Honor Space Camp, experiences at Rocket Center"

Just think. It would be a great opportunity for those of us who haven't attented a session of Camp in ages to get back and see the USSRC and for those who have been recently... well... they can just go back! ;)

Wild idea, but just a thought. Especially for those (like me) who 1) missed the alumni event last year and 2) haven't been to the USSRC in ages.

:)

woo something like that would be awesome. i highly doubt my parents would just let me fly to huntsville for a weekend to meet some people i met online. lol. but maybe after im 18.
would they let us stay on their site somehow? or would we have to stay at the marriot?

perhaps if we get some news coverage, theyll give us a slight price break. we just have to hope that not much is going on that weekend.

A get together would be awesome. My parents might let me go if they came with me. It would pobably take some coaxing though.

You'd probably have to stay at the Marriot. The habs are packed with trainees in the summertime.
Believe it or not, I will not be back this summer. And probably never again!

I figure we just stay at the mariott. We don't want to interfere with what might be going on, though a stay in the Hab would be nice 8)

And it doesn't have to be in the summer... it could be in the fall when things calm down there, but not when its too cold to enjoy it =)

Just thought I'd throw it out there. I mean, we could save money by sharing rooms and what not depending on the cost -- we'd be right there so... hell, why not? =)

:D I think that having a party would be great but we need to remeber that most of us are in school or have jobs. So having it in the summer might be the best. I live close so a weekend in Huntsville would be no problem but I know that for some it would be a major problem. I problay live the closest to Huntsville besides the people who live there. We could all split the bill for the party but either pay for your own transporation or any other ideas? :)

At this moment in time there is no way I can go. A plane ticket would cost at least $700 Canadian and there is no way I can afford to do that for a weekend. The next time I go to Space Camp (after my July trip) won't be forprobably 3 years at least.

Nonsense! Who needs a plane ticket? Hitchhike! (Just kidding, of course. Hitchhiking is bad, and illegal in most states)

Actually, I may end up driving by myself to camp one of the next times I go because of airfare prices. Lucky for me we found one that was only $160.00 this time. Next time if it isn't equal to that or better, I have to drive 10 hours to camp.

I seriously considered driving down the last time i went. I figured i could drive down and camp out over night along the way to cut down on cost. Heck my grandmother even said i could take her car since mine wasn't verry reliable. But i found a good air fare and decided to flyinstead. I even considered taking greyhound till i found out it would mean 24 hours on a bus. Now here is a question though would space camp let you park there for a week? and would you have to tell them ahead of time?

That is an interesting question. I don't see why you couldn't just park in the lot. They'll probably just think it is a counselor's car.
