i think the pathfinder was the thing i missed most after 96 so when i went last year i bought a picture of pathfinder for my room.... i missed eating breakfast everyday and not seeing pathfinder out the window... so now i wake up to it...

Well ive taken several pictures of pathfinder each time i went also have a nice aerial biew on a post card. I've also taken several pictures of the Sturn 1 unfortunately iys harder to photograph because of its height and their are only so many places you can get a picture of it from and get it all. The one picture i wish i could have gotten but didnt have my camera with me that night was of a nearly full moon right next to the escape tower of the Saturn 1.

I'm not even sure they would allow you to hold a camera on Space Shot, would they? What about from the roof of the USSRC building?

I got one of the real Saturn V from inside by the SCUBA tank. There is some stuff in the way but you still get a lot of it. It's a nice view.

When I went to see STS-108 launch in Dec. '01, I tried taking photos of the stack on the pad from a distance. My advice: If you want a good photo, buy a calendar!

Well i guess its kind of hard to get a good shot from 3 miles away unless you have a really good telephoto lense.

Yeah, and I'm a terrible photographer to begin with! :( But the important thing is to take in the sight with your own eyes because the photos will rarely, if ever, do it justice. Still, I'm gonna try that Sat V shot from the top of the UAT tank!

At least you guys had cameras. I lost mine somewhere towards the end of the week. Thankfully, when I got back from vacation 2 weeks later there was a package from the USSRC with my camera inside. Also, one of the girls from my team sent me doubles of her pics since i missed the last few days. I really appreciated it.

The Marriott

Post by shenandoah04 »

I don't know, having been a few times, the hab kind of grows on you. I love the rooms themselves the only thing that really even took getting used to (for me) was the bathrooms! The Marriott may be more comfortable (maybe) but I think it'd take a lot of fun out of camp... my dormmates were great, the rooms were great, and the bathrooms were tolerable, what more could I ask?

Only complaint i ever had was about hab 2. Aside from sharing a room with 30other people when i went the bathroom connected to my dorm room had no stalls for the showers but i'm pretty sure theyve changed that nowwith atleast some curtains like they have in one of the hab 1 bathrooms.

I hate the showers, and the beds. I think that the Marriott would be much more comfortable, but it would take away from the experience.

To me Hab 1 was never too bad. The showers had rivacy. Plus i always got up early enough to avoid the lines for the showers. The only shower i didnt like in hab 1 was what appeared to have once baan a big open shower room that they had divided up with curtains. There was only 1 big bench to put stuff on it was hard to tell when and where a shower space was open and there was verry little privacy.

That must've been the showers I got every time. Last time I went, it wasn't so bad, though. Because it was the off season, there were very few people showering at one time (three or four, max). Usually, I had it to myself. And there was always hot water.

Cold water may wake you up in the morning but waking up in the Hab to cold water isn't my idea of a good time...

Well most of the time when i was there in 98 and 93 i had a good shower room with stalls and benches in each stall. And in 98 i always got up early enough to take a shower when noone else was in there. Except the last day in 98 when my room overslept and we had to wait in a long liune fpr a shower. That was the day we had to use the big room with curtains mentioned above.
