Repaint of the Saturn I was completed back in February. Here's how she turned out:

Pathfinder will be next! BOLO for an announcement on that soon. It's a very big project that will take 3 years to complete.

Wait a second... When did they convert that Saturn1 into a block 2 vehicle? That LES and boilerplate aren't original.

Mysteries Mysteries...

I guess thats what happens when you don't live in AL.

To my knowledge this was always a Saturn 1 Block II vehicle.

Now, let me first offer a disclaimer, my brain is a pile of mush because of too much stress. But I'm almost certain the Saturn 1 only had a shroud back in the day similar to the block one Saturns that were used for the water shots when they were still testing the Saturn vehicles.

I'm going to look at pictures now...

OK I know where I went wrong. I'm thinking of the S1 block 1 at MSFS next door. See what happens when you get old!

The Saturn I looks beautiful. They did a great job with the restoration. I really look forward to Pathfinder’s restoration. Back when the foam was original, not painted over, we would count the pennies stuck in the foam from people throwing them at the ET. Anyway, I have many good memories of the Saturn I as well.

Just saw the Pathfinder land again on Collect Space. She's showing the years for sure. I guess you don't see all the crud when its up on the stack.

Yep! They have her completely stripped down to her frame now. Waiting to hear if she's going to be salvageable or not. Hoping all she needs is a new set of skin.

They've stripped the ET of it's foam and are in the process of de-mating the SRBs.

I'm just glad I took some shots of the it the last time I was there, as I should have realized then, that this was going to come soon enough.
The costs are staggering, though.
Beats me when the next time I'll be back to SC, but I don't know if it'll be back together by then...
