Looking for old teammates

Hello everyone!

I attended space academy during the summer of 2006, I was 13 at the time and am now 23.

The only things that have survived me thus far are the photographs of my team.
I have no names, no phone numbers etc.

One girl took my number down and called me after the camp, but I was too shortsighted to write down the information and had no way to call back.
I need to find this girl and ask her on a date before she gets married or something.

Taken from the spacecampalumni.com
“The probability of success is difficult to estimate; but if we never search the chance of success is zero”

Do you guys have any advice on that?

Hmm, this is going to be tough. There used to be a searchable alumni database on the Space Camp site about 5-6 years ago, but it's been taken offline. There has been talk of bringing it back as part of the Space Camp Alumni site you visited (which is ran by our alumni organization which is separate from Camp and Sprocket). But you'd at least need to know your team name and the dates you were there for that to be of any use.

Do you have your team group photo that Camp gave you at graduation? This should at least have the week/session number. From that, we can look at the 2006 brochure and figure out the dates you were there.

Do you remember a counselor or crew trainer's name? Sometimes this can be the best way of reconnecting since they often keep in touch with former trainees.

Do you have the photos scanned? Send them to Space Camp on Facebook and and ask them to post them, "looking for lost team members". I know they've done this a time or two in the past.

I'll be at Space Camp tomorrow, I will try to ask if they have records going back that far.

I appreciate you asking on my behalf, thanks.

I have a team photograph and the graduation certificate but I don't believe either have any identifiable information linking to my crew.

It's in my room back home so I'll have to see if there's additional information I can provide here.

If you can give me the date of graduation from the certificate, that might help in obtaining a list of trainees from that week (if such a record has been kept). I probably can't get any personal info like phone numbers or street addresses, but maybe the names? I'll give it a shot.

What about a team patch? You maybe could use that, as they feature the last names of the team members.

I will say that I wish I had an account on Facebook prior to '10. I am still friends with most of my teammates from '10 and '11, and found another from '08, but no-joy on anybody from '05 or '07.

I'm away at school currently so I have to phone my home to get this information. (Edit: Graduation: July 14th 2006)
I'm uncertain about whether or not I possess the team patch - I don't recall.

Thanks for your help Hotdog, are you frequently in the Spacecamp area?

Probably not as much as I should be. I only live an hour and a half from Sprocket. I try to visit every few months. I do a lot of volunteer work for the alumni association, but most of that is done from home.

I want to put a Camper Finder joke in here but I don't think anyone would get it! Mission Patch and Facebook stalking is a good idea!

Update: I identified my old team name and my graduation date.

I graduated on July 14th, 2006

My team was Hyperion.

Still no luck however... the search continues.

Does the camp itself preserve a copy of each mission patch from each team?

It sounds like Camp will be making public a way to search for your old camp dates and possibly print off graduation certificates. I am not sure what the timeline is, but there was mention of it on the recent alumni Facebook page.

There may still be hope for you to find your friend.

Wow, good news. I always assumed they didn't maintain records like that.

They mentioned years back to 1989 or so as everything before that was on paper.

Sounds like the database may have limitations due to privacy concerns so tracking down old teammates may be a little easier with the upcoming database / search feature down the pipe, however with this in mind, it may offer limited options to send messages or find that long lost teammate based upon someone's question that was posted and the reply back by Space Camp regarding the database. I've thought of making some type of 'non-official Space Camp' Google document or file share of some sort for alumni to post their class information, dates, and anything they'd want to share (scans of mission patches, artwork, etc), or even their email address for those long lost teammates. I've also thought of offering to transfer old Space Camp VHS team tapes (the ones you could buy with highlights of your specific week) to DVD so those could be preserved as well. (Or save on Google as well). Are either one of these ideas worthwhile or is it something that would not work and/or not a good idea? (Plus I wouldn't want to step on anyone's toes, including Space Camp themselves).

Shortly after you posted this, a similar document was indeed created: https://www.facebook.com/notes/space-ca ... 808091723/

On the Space Camp alumni page, you can now create an account and register to pull up old camp records.

Here is a direct link to the registration page:

At this time, it looks like the years involved are 1989 - 2015.

As my favorite hockey announcers might say: Not so fast, Kowalski!!! ;) I registered and after saving, it took me to the search page. I tried myself since I know when I attended. No joy! However, I attended as an adult so that could be why. Maybe someone else will have better luck...

This is the second different version of the Alumni database that I've seen. Beats me why SC has to re-invent the wheel so often!

Happened to me, too, when I first tried the search. Make sure you include the slashes when you type your birthday.

Cool! Thanks for sharing. My two youth camps and one adult camp came up. Corporate/private group camps didn't.
