I was wondering what they’d do with the orbiter mockup at the old Florida SC building now that they're moving the Hall of Fame over to the main visitor center and selling the building. So odd their going to make a raft out of the thing: http://www.collectspace.com/news/news-0 ... -move.html

Oddly, that just a few months before my 2011 visit. Interesting timing as this was right before the STS program ended and there was a serious gloom over the Space Coast.
Until recently I didn’t know they'd had a HAB much like the one at Huntsville. I don’t recall looking that direction (other than noticing the orbiter mockup) the previous times I was at KSC and I didn’t even know there even was a Florida SC until a few years ago…

Sad to see it go. I attended the Florida camp with my nephew many years ago. We used that in our missions. It was the one time I tried the Florida camp and I thought then and still think that the original camp in Huntsville is much better. Still, it was nice to have tried it the one time.

I have fond memories of sims in there as well as the Shuttle to Tomorrow film. Glad they're at least planning on putting it to use!

I was disappointed to not be able to go in the orbiter when I visited KSC last. Anyone have any pictures of the interior?

I have some photos taken inside the orbiter mock-up that used to be at the KSC visitor complex itself, where Atlantis currently is. Is this the same mock-up, just relocated to the camp and HOF property? Or were there two different mock-ups at KSC?

The photos I have are from film, taken in the 1990s. I can scan them in if anyone is interested.

The SC mockup is a different one from the KSC one.
The mockup that used to sit where the Atlantis Pavilion now sits, is now at The Visitor Center in Houston. It is sitting atop The sca 747 carrier plane.

I figured as much. I seem to recall seeing and going inside both on one visit, though I only have photos from inside the KSCVC one.
