'Can Crusher' at the center now...

I’m a little confused, what possible use as a display or useful tool could this be at the visitor center or SC? http://www.collectspace.com/ubb/Forum41 ... 00613.html

Perhaps a "Structural Testing at NASA" display?

Maybe it's the next "G-Force" type ride for the Rocket Park!

I believe I know what they are using this for. I'll verify tomorrow. If so you will be bummed.

Well I haven't been able to confirm this but the timing seems interesting. In January at the Executive/Business Committee joint meeting it was announced that a structure was being moved from MSFC to USSRC in the overnight hours. That structure would not be a display piece but would actually end up as a shelter for the bus maintenance facility that burned down several years ago. Even though the structure was insured the money paid was never re-invested in the facility. Now the employees work in half a building that has char marks and was actually closed for a period of time by the fire marshal.

I drove by the storage area on I565 and I don't quite see how the can crusher could be used for this purpose but I'm sure they have a plan IF that is the object they discussed in the open meeting. I guess they could cut it in half and use the halves as roof structures. That would be pure speculation on my part.
