So, who's ready for 2014?

Post by p51 »

It's been awfully dead here latetly, so I'll post the question:
Who here has scheduled their SC experience for 2014 yet?
I know there's a 4-day adult program from October 10-13, but I'm holding out for being asked to join one of the corproate programs around the same general timeframe, especially since my wife said she'd be okay with that. Hopefully, I'll have some kind of clue before long (I've been invited in the past, and I've made it very clear that I'm in next year if they'll have me, I also know Steve here is equally motivated as well for that). But either way, I'm going back in the Fall for sure!

Anyone who has never been to SC, really needs to go camp & experience what it is all about. If you have any interest in space, make plans to go, have good time & learn how important space really is. Just as Lee said, I am really to get back to camp. My wife supports me on going & knows how much I enjoy it. I say to you, make plans & start counting down the time to go to camp.

We have to opt out for 2014 due to limited vacation time and other plans, but we're on board and already preparing for 2015!

Signed up over the thanksgiving weekend when I heard about the 4-day program (thanks to a friend when spotted the 4-day session; thanks Lindsay!).

Very excited to be going back to Camp in 2014. Looking forward to flying space mission again with new friends and returning teammates.

I should have done this as well, but I was hoping to be invited to a specific corporate program in 2014 and I'd never been big on splitting my bets...
Funny, it's only been 3 months since I was last at SC and it feels like it's been over a year already!

There is a group on Facebook that is working to organize a few trips to adult Space Camp in 2014 including a custom weeklong program. Here is the link for it and there is a survey at the top for your preferred dates! https://www.facebook.com/groups/176754605866611/

Sadly, there are people (myself, one of them) who aren't on facebook.
I always suggest a site anyone can look at when you're looking to add people...

I'm now signed up for 2014.

Looking forward to 2014, signed up & ready to go! I believe there is a need for week long camps. When I am there, I express the need for SC to go to a week long camp & still provide 3 day camps.

Hey PK! I had a dream last night with everyone from Team Phoenix - we had full roam of Space Camp and ran a three-day long sim that included an EVA at Area 51. Have fun at the 4-day camp and see you in 2015, hopefully earlier in the year so we don't have to wait as long.

Braids! Happy New Year! Aren't Camp dreams fun? I still remember my recent one where we had
made an emergency landing in the jungle and had to eat iguanas and hearts of palm to survive.

The 2014 4-day SA will be fun, I can hardly wait. But Team Phoenix will rise yet again in 2015,
with the Spring flowers and crisp blue skies. Until then, I'll miss you and Goose. Stay warm up there!

Now that's a fun thread, Lee, I'll remember that. I tried to start an e-mail thread with
the Team titled "Dreams and Confessions," but it didn't take off. My first confession was
that I use a Bath and Bodyworks line called "Energy" because that's what they have at
the Huntsville Marroitt, and it reminds me of going to Space Camp.

Sometimes it's the little things that keep us yearning for Space Camp.

I have just booked the 4-day Adult Camp during the Hall of Fame weekend in August. I found out that our long summer closing will be that weekend at work so it seemed to be fated! Now I have to get a ticket for the Hall of Fame Dinner.

I didn't do August as I am no longer capable of handling summertime in the deep south (born and raised in Florida but I've lived in the Pacific NW since 1998) and they announced that session really late, after the other sessions were announced.
Please, let us know how it went when you get back from that, I don't think anyone knows what to expect on a 4-day adult session...

I am planning to get Hall of Fame tickets in May when they go on sale. I called to check and they aren't included in the 4-day camp. From previous posts, it looks like some of you will be there just for that. Is there a way that we can get a table assigned for the Hab-1s who are attending? It would be nice to sit together. Also, the only one of these I was at previously was the 25th anniversary, which was offsite and pretty dressy. What is the dress like for these, now that they are onsite? Is it still dressy, or is a more casual outfit allowed?

Onsite, not as dressy as 2007.

2007 was a black tie event. From 2008 on, the Hall of Fame event has always been "Business Attire." (i.e. suit and tie; a blazer will do).

I would love to go one of these days. I have wanted to attend SC since I can remember. I thought it had closed down. Now that I know that is not the case. I will be trying to attend a session sometime. As my girlfriend is still in college, it may be a while till I can swing it.

The 30th anniversary event was $45 ($99 if you wanted to do the sims and other off-site activities). They will post more details here http://www.spacecampstore.com/Events/, but it usually doesn't get posted until May (about the same time the inductees are announced).
