Just when I think I've heard of all the SC programs:
I assume this was Space Camp for migrant workers or their kids? Man, I bet that was interesting (and I’m not shocked you don’t hear about it anymore).

Re: Migrant worker Space Camp?
That's certainly new news to me. I am curious as to why children of migrant workers would have their own camp; they aren't that different from anyone else. Perhaps it was sponsored or privately reserved for scholarship recipients. I would be interested to find out more about such a program. Great find!

Re: Migrant worker Space Camp?
Seriously, someone associated with SC should write a book about all these patches and programs...
It's a shame none of us can do so as most of these items are copywritten.

Space Camp: A History -or- Space Camp Encyclopaedia
We could make it a collaborative effort.

Re: Migrant worker Space Camp?
This could also be a camp specifically for educators or migrant workers' kids. Seems like that might be a more practical group of people to get together educators generally tending to be less, well, migratory. Just a thought.
It would be interesting to research (or read the research of) all the various Space Camp programs. There's got to be someone doing a masters or PhD in the history of STEM education in the US who could do this as part of a thesis, right? The problem is just finding that person.

Yeah, that makes a lot more sense. I can't believe that never crossed my mind...gt0163c wrote:This could also be a camp specifically for educators or migrant workers' kids.
Seriously, I think a book on the history of Space Camp would be a great thing. You could include photos taken through the years and include all the books that have covered camp over the years as well as photos of things like these patches, wings and flight suits (all the things that people like us wonder about). I believe it'd sell at least as well as any other books in the gift shop. I'd sure buy a copy!gt0163c wrote:It would be interesting to research (or read the research of) all the various Space Camp programs.

Re: Migrant worker Space Camp?
There a group that still sponsors migrant workers kids annually; as do a couple of native American tribes and other similar groups. There are a lot of organizations out there that raise funds and send kids who otherwise would never get the opportunity.
