Last month, I was at SC, and only the smaller adult size t-shirts had the new logo on them (oddly, the old logo was on the back). Us XL types got the same shirts from last year.
I saw a stack of boxes along one wall in the HAB with hundreds of bundled patches with the new logo, stuff with 'best team' and such on them, looked like award patches like they used to have. I really wish I'd taken a photo of them.
NOTHING in the gift shop had the new logo yet.
I assume they're gearing up for next summer, I'd expect in the spring you'll see 'gumby' all over everything!

When we were there last week they had the new logo on all the camp shirts. Our corporate shirts had the new logo on the front and old logo on the back. I asked why this was and they said they are trying to slowly transition the logo, keeping both logos on some items until most of the big logos around the facility have been switched over. The gift shop was trying to get rid of old stock, which is why the selection was very limited. They said they will have more stuff closer to December and even more by next summer, likely with the new logo.

Even the XL sizes? Most people didn't notice the different logos in our group last month, and one of the trainers told us that they had stocks of larger size old logo stuff they were trying to get through.
I'd be willing to bet if you go back through your shots last week, you might see some of the bigger folks wearing the old logo on new shirts...

I am so glad all my shirts from camp was the old logo. I sure would like to get a few camp shirts out of the gift shop before they are all gone!! When they are gone, they are gone! 8)

Yes, even the XL corporate and family shirts had the new logo. I only saw one family camp shirt with the old family camp logo on it, but none of the team members were wearing it - probably because they were all smaller sized. I will have to check the younger kids in the photos, but every one I saw up close had the new logo on them. Granted, I didn't see any size L or XL kids when we were there.

It should be interesting to see what the gift shop looks like in the Springtime. The only patches I saw anywhere at SC last month with the new logo were those 'award' patches I saw in the boxes. Funny thing, I didn't run into any trainers or SC staff who seemed to like the new logo.

Interesting. Less than a month before, Steve and I were both told that they had lots of shirts with the old logo (the blue Space Academy ones, that is) they were going through before the XL types got the new logo, he made it sound like only the smaller folks would get the new logo for a while. And it's hard to imagine too many non-kid-sized people went through there between us and your group.
Good thing I got an extra one then, as I wasn't too keen on the new logo anyway and plan on wearing the older logo shirt(s) the next time I go back. I don't wear my camp shirts at home, so they should last a really long time for that!

Hey, has anyone heard of any new logo patches yet?
Heck, the awards patches exist already. I saw some in September, in a box at HAB1, why aren't the standard ones in the gift shop yet?

The only award patches that I'm aware of with the new logo are for the robotics program, which was new last year. The program launched right around the same time as the new logo.

I'm kicking myself now for not taking photos, but I saw several boxes in the HAB next to the stariwell on the first floor. The top box was open and there were bundles of shrink-wrapped new logo patches that said 'best mission' at the base of one of them, I think another said 'space bowl,' but I'm not 100% sure of that. There were aviation challenge patches that looked like awards patches, as well.
It's a good thing I have no larceny in my heart, because it'd been so easy to have walked off with hundreds of them.

I don't have access to supply. I know the ones we gave out this week were the old ones. Probably the last of 'em going out then...

Guess I'll have to acquire a set of the good ones, before "Disappointed Astronaut Dad" (credit to Vince for the name), takes over.

So I assume that the award patches are given out for the week-long programs? The 3-day adult one never see them.
And I was advised that in October, most of the program t-shirts had the new logo on them. When I was there just a month before, hardly anyone got the new logo shirts and we were told they had more than a few larger adult sizes in the old logo left. The only people I saw on the adult program in September with the new logo shirts were in the small size ranges. Oddly enough, I think I recall that even those shirts didn't have the new logo on each side, I think it stil had the old logo on the back?
I would say it seems odd how long its taken for the new logo to get on anything campers use, but I understand that the 'US' was on logo stuff for years after it was dropped. Heck, the HAB still had "US" on the logo name on the exterior wall when I was there last time.

Yes. Award patches are for weeklong programs, short programs get little pins.

What do you think or know what they will award for the new four day adult camp?

If I had my way: patches. But I'm not high enough on the totem pole to make those decisions.

If I were a betting man, I'd bet pins. They used to be shuttles. We've recently switched to Orion capsules.

I've still got some tweaking to do on it, and I'm going to play around with it and see if it works with some different backgrounds and colors. Any input/ideas you guys have are greatly appreciated.

Woo hoo! My "starchild" Space Camp logo concept is finally going to see the light of day after all!

As it would turn out, the concept was the perfect solution for the "Drive To 35" scholarship drive leading up to next years' 35th anniversary of Space Camp. I added a female "starchild" to the composition to make it feel more inclusive. Watch for the next alumni newsletter which will tell you more about the program.
