Adult Week 2013?

Post by SpaceCanada »

Okay, so we know week-long camps ave been removed for the year. Bummer. But, what if we got a group together and booked an ASA group camp for a week in 2013? I have five people who would be interested - one is still a minor, but that shouldn't matter if it's a private group booking, right?

It's just an idea right now. Would anyone else be interested? I could probably round up 6-8 people I know, maybe more, and there's a minimum of 12, so we'd need a few extra people to join us. What do you think?

(2012 won't work for me... long story involving a surprise trip to Finland and rescheduling an important family trip to 2012... thus chewing up my vacation time next year.)

2013 Adult week

I might be interested, depending on the timing. I couldn't do 2012 either, but 2013 would probably work.

I'm definitely interested. It would depend upon the timing, but I was thinking about going back to adult ASA in 2013.

I sent an e-mail to US Space Camp asking for details... so I'm just waiting to hear back. If nothing comes of it in a month or so I will try calling. 2013 is still a long way off, but it would be nice to find out if it is even possible or not before I get my hopes up and start telling people about it. (So far I have four confirmed and six maybes.)

This is great! I haven't had any response from US Space Camp yet, so I will give them a call in December.

Any date preferences? Any date's that wouldn't work? Early spring or autumn would be best for us. Winter could work too. Summer and late spring is definitely out - it's way too hot in Alabama! Plus, I don't think they run private groups in the summer.

If heat's the issue, I'd go with early spring rather than autumn. An April in Huntsville is alot cooler than a September or early October.

It's too early for me to know if I am in for 2013 or not. I love the idea, but I am trying to go back this summer for the 30th anniversary! I'll have to see how that goes first.

If you go in spring, camp will be full of school groups. Fall would be a better time to go if you prefer a quiet camp.

That's right! Are they doing an Alumni camp this year or are you just going to go through a regular adult program?

I'm hoping they will have an Alumni program that coincides with the Hall of Fame in June. It would be nice if a few other Hab1'ers went as well!

Late spring or summer would not work for me either. Late September/October or early spring but not Easter week/weekend would be best.

I'm pretty open, as long as I have advance notice. Spring or Fall will work.

I haven't had any luck contacting Space Camp via e-mail, web forms, etc. about this. I won't call them until later this year when they may have rates and dates for 2013. I'll keep everyone up to date, for sure! And if any dates work better than others for some of you, post them here and I'll do my best to accommodate as many people as possible.

Just spoke with Snapper, the corporate camp coordinator. She's the one to go through if you want to book a 'group' camp. She's crazy busy right now booking and scheduling events for 2012, so give her a call later in the year to discuss your plans. I'll message you her number, SpaceCanada.

Depending on exactly when...

I might be interested, and I'd touch base with the rest of the Enterprise Team crew to see who else might be able to come.
