I'm Going Back To Space Camp!!!!!!!!!

Post by JennieM »

I am beyond excited right now. My wonderful husband, as a birthday present this week, booked me a weekend at Space Camp in August. I was in complete shock and quite a few tears. Space Camp was a HUGE part of my life. The more time goes by, the more I appreciate it. As a matter of fact, when I went out with my family for dinner on my birthday I got into a conversation with our waitress and it came up she was from Huntsville. We got into a long conversation about the Sprocket Center and the sites of Huntsville. It's always there.

Over 15 years later, and it still means a lot to me. I still can't believe it. :D

I'm jealous! I'm sure you'll have a great time. What a great birthday present!

If you haven't been for a visit, you're in for a surprise. There have been lots of changes. I hadn't been to Huntsville between 1998 and 2007 and there were plenty of changes. I went back down in February 2008 to see the new Davidson center.

I wish I could go back too, but moving to AZ and returning to school has drained me financially. Not only that, but all of the dates for adult camps are after school starts back up. I think maybe Space Camp needs to have a couple of weekend sessions during the summer.

Congrats Jennie! I know you'll fall back into it like riding a stationary bike on the floor of the space station.

Now comes the hard part. Waiting until August. :?

I can't wait to see everything. I still can't believe they moved things like the multi-axis trainer off the training center floor to a different building. And I'm very excited to see the Davidson Center. So many changes. It will be a fun trip down amnesia lane.

You will have a blast. Wish i was going to beable to go back this year but it won't happen for financial reasons. Having just gotten married and moving to a new state takes its toll. I do hope to drive down there for a day this summer though now that i'm only about 4 hours away.

I'm jealous!!! I wish I could go too... I was just talking to my husband how I missed Space Camp and Aviation Challenge, he doesn't get it and just kind of laughs at me. Have fun!

Thankfully, my hubby gets it. I had a hand in that though. As a wedding present to him, I signed him up for a weekend at AC. He LOVES playing flight sims on his computer, so it was a no-brainer. To his friends, I became "super cool wife" after that. Even one of his groomsmen signed up to go with him. They had a great time!

I know people who have never been to space camp or AC just don't get it. It's an experience you have to have for yourself. I thought i knew what to expect when i went for the first time but it was still full of suprises when i went for real and i was hooked from day one.
