Cool new forum! Hope we can really get some stuff goin' here.
Hey Vincent, I've been talkin to ya on Vanessa's site the past week or so ('bout the blue binder). Just wanted to say that you've got a pretty cool site here and (if you keep it updated it can really go places. Anyway, I've been to ASA once and am goin back this year. I've also been down there on many school field trips and such so I consider it my home away from home. Glad to see theres others out there that feel the same way. Going to Space Camp has been a dream of mine since ever since i can remember. When I was real young I would get my mom to get me the brochures in the mail so I could look at the pictures. My parents could never afford it, so when I turned 15 and got a part-time job, ASA was my first goal, and i quickly had the tuition. It was much better than i even expected. There were some dissapointments, too, though, like the outdated equipment in the MOCR and shuttle, but these things were negligible. the best memories i have are from ASA, as everything came together, it was the perfect week. I could go on forever about this. maybe i'll write an article. anyway...

I have the same story as both of you. I live in Canada so with the dollar exchange it was too expensive to go. I got a job and saved up and went to ASA in August of 2001. It was the best time in my life. I'm going this summer and my parent's are paying for tuition. I have to pay for the plane ticket. Space Camp is the most fun thing anyone could ever do. I loved it so much and I can't wait togo back this summer!!
Wow, and I thought I was the only one who paid his own way to camp... guess I figured everybody had rich parents
Space camp really is the most fun thing anyone could do... they jam-pack so much stuff into one week that it's really not until you get home that you realize all that you have done. I have never been to 'camp or 'academy', only advanced. i'm goin this year on june 22-28. It may be the last time I can go because I am 17 now Last year they let us surf the internet there so maybe if they do that this year i will get to post 'from the inside'. Glad that the sessions are a day longer this year, too, but I was lookin through some old brochures I have and saw that the sessions used to be 7 days long... guess through the years the it dwindled down to 5 days as the price went up!
Speaking of brochures... Good job getting the brochure covers up, Vincent, it was something I was going to suggest in the near future. I don't see, however, the brochure which got me interested in space camp many years ago... I have lost it since, and I guess it must be one of the years that you do not yet have up. What I am looking for now, though, is a map of the Habitats/or/USSRC. Maybe you know where I can find one of these. keep up the good work.
And good luck with the scholarship, Kristina!

It's worse than you think...Space Academy Level II (now ASA) used to be 10 days!!! Hurts, doesn't it!Glad that the sessions are a day longer this year, too, but I was lookin through some old brochures I have and saw that the sessions used to be 7 days long... guess through the years the it dwindled down to 5 days as the price went up!

I didn't go to Space Camp Canada because I was too old. It is only for those 9-14 and I was almost 15 when I found out about Space Camp. Also, it wouldn't have been much cheaper. The plane ticket would still be expensive because I would of had to fly across the country. ASA was a ton of fun and I'm glad I chose to go to Alabama. I'm going again from August 3-9 and I can't wait!!
