You guys ever had a chain reaction anomaly???
I had one happen to my obiter crew during my 2006 EDM.
It seems that the whole shuttle crew forgot that the EDM is the only mission where your truly “ in Space” so people on the mid-deck started moving around after the simulator takeoff sound effect but well before MECO at MET T+9:00 MIN
So they got hurt fast.

Also our CDR had a heart attack during lift off as per his medical history. So our PLT got up to help forgetting to check the MET so he promptly knocked himself out.

Who can say multiple medical problems!!! 

So our team leader Jason and shuttle sim ghost Thomas call sign Twister had a ball Handing out blood and medical issues
Also please note keep an ear on EVA from the mid-deck so you can close the inner hatch 
Fun stuff.

Wonder how many teams move before MECO.

Oooh, chain reactions, boy do I have a good one:

1. Commander has heart attack during launch.
2. Pilot stands to assist, breaks leg in process.
3. Remaining flight deck crew attemtp to assist, as a result the entire crew is incapacitated before MECO.
4. I (Mission Controller and only one who had any medical knowledge in MC) have hollywood-style psychotic episode, am nearly poisoned by crewmates who didn't read the medical instructions closely.
5. Capcom has allergic reaction to flower in lunch, is dosed with epinepherine before she dies, thus the entire shutle crew is ignored.
6. Tornado strikes MC, crew evacuated and one bowl of egg drop soup is spilled.
7. Station astronaut has medical event, though it is not clear what the cause is due to poor communication.
8. I look up symptoms based on what I am told, astronaut covering ears in pain is mistaken for head trauma.
9. I radio proper medicine and dosage, but station crew doses victim with enough of wrong medication to kill a small elephant. Body is placed in radiation sheild zone with trash and ejected.
10. Fire breaks out on ISS. Crew is evacuated and shuttle preforms emergency de-orbit before fire can spread to orbiter.
11. MC crew forced to enter hostile territory to rescue crashed orbiter team, who had constructed emergency shelter from sticks and flight suits.
12. Thunderstorm (real this time) and entire crew is forced to evacuate forest, but not before a joke refrencing the "We're on a bridge!" part of Charlie the Unicorn (inside joke).

And we evn managed to fit lunch in. 1 Fatality, 7 near fatalities. Crewmember who killed ISS Astronaut nearly killed and blamed for entire mission.

Here’s one more chain reaction anomaly that I remember quite fondly.
The year was 2005.
These events also happened during that years EDM.
I was assigned to the ISS as Flight operator 1 for this entire EDM.
Anyway this ISS easily became really focused on their personal experimentation duties and checklists. No one except me ever really paid attention to the Caution and Warning panels. So I handled all of them + plus my own duties. This worked fine until the station counselor decided to have some fun.
She walked up to and said “ I want you to play superman go into medical problem mode”
So I did. I really hammed up my new role.
Now at first know one knew anything was wrong. Until I started throwing every switch in sight.
Now down in MC our MST had forgotten that medical problems would be part of an EDM.
So she said “ what in the world is going on up there.”
The crew was clueless so the Ghost stated tipping them while telling me to get mildly physical and not accept any pills.
So the whole crew plus the MST now had their hands very full.
I started having some much fun that the Ghost thought I would literally pass out. She told me place I could take breaks if I needed too.

Meanwhile since no one was monitoring anything the ghost decided to start a fire plus send us a waste tank overload plus we were losing altitude.
Finally the crew hit me with two CC’s of AD-van and lithium and bring me back.
Ince I was back the MST said “ I request no I demand give me the radio now.”
Together we proceeded through the rest on our problems I was complemented for my good acting and we proceeded through the rest of our mission.

PS That MST is now one of my best friends

 .

Ok though not a chain reaction anomaly my all time favorite came not as a camper but last summer as a counselor. One night at dinner one of my friends who was an ASA counselor asked me to help out with the EDM his team was doing at the time. I was like sure i figured what the hay had nothing else to do.

Well i went to the sims pit which if you dont know is way in the back of the TCF behind the iss module at the very back. I was told i was going to play the gas man. The only direction i was given was take the phone call when it came from mocr. And to play it as a grumpy type of repairman. This is a common anomoly to through for MOCR and i don;t think the counselors thought it would be any diffrent. They were wrong.

I took the cal acting in a grumpy mood telling the caller i'd be there when i got there. I put on the white gas man jacket and hard hat and waited a few minutes before going to the Enterprise Mocr. When i arrived i immediately started acusing everyone in sight that it must be their fault, asking how it happend complaining about my cardioligist visit and then for a twist started demanding my money up front or i was going to leave and not fix the problem. I swear every trainee in mocr went into panic mode everyone left their console scrabbling to their backpacks etc looking for money to pay me. In the mean time i'm having a heart attack which noone seems to notice and the other counselors are just cracking up at the whole thing. Especially while i;m their unconcious and they cant figure out whats wrong with me.

I was told later it was one of the best and funniest gas man performances they had ever seen. And it was mentioned many times over the course of the summer though unfortunately i never got a chance for an encore.

I still like the stories about someone breaking their leg on zero-g

I remember when I was at camp and we were starting to prepare to come out of orbit during our 2-hour sim, the payload doors wouldn't close. Everyone started to panic in MC because we started to enter the atmosphere. It seemed like the situation was over after they began to close when the payload doors became jammed and only closed about half way.

After much chaos, they closed and the crew survived re-entry....only to be killed in a virtual nose dive by our pilot who had very little skill with a joystick. -_-

One of my team mates tried to extinguish a fire without bracing herself and subsequently broke her back. Cafeterial trays and duct tape to the rescue!

(This was before her back brace was added.)

Well I just got home yesterday, and we had some interesting ones. The Commander had a heart attack during launcemand since SRB sep had occured several minutes ago, we we're sure if we could stand. Flight said it was. It wasn't. We also had someone go completely insane and he ended up taped to a chair.

We had a tornado hit MOCR once. And meanwhile a lot of problems were happening on BOTH the shuttle and station. So we came back to havoc. It was great. No one died!
Also there was the time when I was in MOCR and had a breakdown...and my buddy gave me "valium"...:-D

I don't know if I wrote about this one before (I probably did) but at Adult 8-day we had the wackiest anomaly ever. One of our team mates was a surgeron, for real - a paediatric ear, nose, and throat surgeon or something of the sort. He brought in all sorts of medical books for the flight surgeon position to use if needed. Too funny. We looked up everything and then some new stuff whilst in quietier times.

Anyway, one person in MOCR started to lose their hearing, go crazy, and eventually passed out. The MOCR ghost intended it to be a stroke or something, but we blew it out of the water and turned it into a condition requiring emergency ear surgery right in MOCR. We had the real-life surgeon calling out all sorts of surgical terms, asking for tools, etc. Someone got it on video but I never got a copy. We were in tears laughing but trying to maintain a straight face to pretend we were being serious. Ha.

Whoever said being in MOCR for a 24-hour mission would be boring was way off.

Anomalies

We had an anomaly during the 6-day Adult Advanced Academy several years ago that even the sim-coms weren't expecting. I was the pilot in the process of rescuing two MSs who had passed out due to oxygen leaks when the fire alarm went off. It was the fire alarm for the entire training center so our EVA took us out of Enterprise and right outside the building. It turns out that the Space Station specialists were cooking up an experiment and left it on the heat too long, which set off the smoke detectors. We had a 15 minute EVA to Earth and then picked up the mission where we left off.

Speaking of fires.....

During one Adult Academy weekend we were told that we would not get a fire warning during our sim because the week before a kid heard there was a fire and grabbed a fire extinguisher and emptied it on the flight deck. During our sim *Bragging Alert* my Pilot and I were fixing the problems so fast that we went through the entire list that they could throw at us, including a fire in AV Bay 1. :D

That happened to us once, too!...I wonder how often that happens :-P

we had an anomaly at xmas camp 1998-99. we were on the second 3 hours of our 6 hr edm and i was space station commander. we had been hit by the meteor shower and were hiding in the old Columbus module. the sim ghost comes in whispers in this guy's ear and within 5 minutes hes gone nuts. hes breaking things and actually tries to drag one of the girls out the airlock. It took two of us to restrain him while the girl is screaming in pain. You see he had dragged her over a table which caused her arm to have a massive gash in it. The station pilot and myself cleaned and dressed the wound while our newly formed station security officer knocked some sense into the crazy guy. needless to say i don't think they used that space dementia anomaly much much after that.

Oh no, they still use it. In October 1999 I was given the delightful experience of said medical condition. I was in the orbiter on the flight deck, hopped up on the centre control console, started flicking switches, going nuts, etc. I was tackled (kicking and screaming) to the ground and cured with whatever treatment it was. One of us was close to falling down the ladder... but a ghost was in there with a camera so he warned us. I'm surprised nobody got hurt. Ha!

They obviously never cured me because a few hours later I went psycho in the ISS and again had to be tackled to the ground.

Good times... great memories.

In 2005 they used it again on some members of my adult alumni team. That was an interesting EDM for so many reasons...

Oh yes they still do. Only in our case, the problem kept recurring. Every time we thought we had taped him down...
