Wait... you're telling me they used to have an option where actual campers could get in actual planes and actually take the controls? Was there a trained professional in the second seat ready to take over to avoid disasters?

Hah! Well yes there was a pilot. Can you image the crazy ACers in a sky near you without a licensed pilot??

This lasted, I think, two years. I don't know why the cancelled it. I think it was actually much more expensive than my little discover flight type thing that I did with a private flight school.
Save your pennies this is a neat thing to do. I think I will be saving my pennies to go ballooning. I think that might just be more expensive than the flight lesson. It's quite the thing in Albuquerque--esp during the Albuquerque International Balloon fiesta. I crewed in this a few years ago. That was great fun, driving around looking up and not forward!

I think they were stopped for insurance reasons.

Not quite. I seem to recall one counselor in particular who was 1 shot shy of having and ACE (under European rules... 5) and still hadn't gone. Just some how amazingly went to the M3 babysitter that went a long to the airport.

Intent sometimes differs from the actual delivery. Perhaps I should have said the program "should have remained a reward" but I digress. There were many other hands in that particular mix at the time, Gordo.
